It will power a USB flash drive. For devices that draw more current: mechanical disk drives, optical drives etc. use a powered USB hub or a USB docking station.

Yes, applications can be run from the SD card, but it takes a little work. The SD card needs to be Mounted as a drive but Dell have only assigned it as a Card Reader. You must set it up as a drive and once done, applications will run from that card. If external links are allowed here then try this link.

Read all the way to the bottom as there are several ways of doing it. Once it is considered a drive by windows then programs can run off it. see less

There is only one speaker but the sound quality is very good and loud. I have no complaints with the sound, it is much better than the Nook tablet this replaces.

Those tools are very expensive to the CPU and RAM. Dell Venue8 PRO can run these tools but it will be very slow. suggest you consider a bigger tablet with higher CPU capacity and bigger screen for media editing. The Dell venue 8 Pro is great for many things but not media editing.

There is an on-screen keyboard similar to what you would see on an iPad or any Android tablet. If you want a physical keyboard Dell does make one but it must be purchased separately. Just about any Bluetooth compatible wireless keyboard will also work with it.

There is a slot for a SD card and you have a mini USB, so you can hook up what you want to it. I love this tablet. Just acts funny at the beginning, but once you do the updates its great.

Yes, both java and flash. Remember, this is Windows - fullblown. I own a Venue 8 Pro. My website (tackshots.com) uses flash and java for some of its features. No problems at all. This is just like a desktop but in miniature form.
