The E420i-A0 is a 42" 2013 model. This E400i-B2 is a 40" 2014 model. The 2014 models use full-array backlighting but with a very small number of horizontal dimming zones (only five on the 40" E-series). The 2013 models are edge-lit. When I purchased the TV in early 2014, the Amazon was not working. However, my TV just received a firmware update in June 2014 and now it is functioning.

As a follow up, so others are aware, whether or not Prime works appears to be a function of what version of firmware the set is running. On my set, which I also bought from Amazon, it is running firmware: V1.16.30.0529. This appears to work fine, including Amazon Prime.

The remote actually has a button to stream Amazon on the TV! Similar to the button you see for streaming Netflix on most smart TVs. I think there might be an error in the description, but its wrong it if says that you can't stream amazon prime.
