It's a slight pushing together of the 2 parts. You will be able to hear a snap-like sound indicating that the 2 parts are secure. The push is not intense, so I think you'll be ok.

I would think they could, once they get wet and soften. How about putting them into one of those fine mesh bags used for lemons in some restaurants when serving fish? And then put THAT into the pulke with the other ingredients.
