it needs plugged in to charge-like a cell phone--my husband has always used the style of Norelco--it used to cost over $100.00--he loves this shaver.

So, the 4100 works for me. If you live in an area that has both dry and/or humid weather....it is My belief that the 4100 would be your best purchase and should provide you with long life and excellent shaving experience. Since the razor won't work while it is plugged in that part should be safe. I use foam lather and do a wet shave. More comfortable than a dry shave. Easy to wash debris off.

I have never used the razor until the battery was depleted. I have just gotten in the habit of charging it every Sunday for an hour and it's ready for another week. I would venture to say it would most likely last from 10 to 12 days. It takes me approximately 10 minutes to shave. Hope this helps answer your question.
