The only difference that I can see is that ASUS swapped out the Atom Z3740 CPU in the "non-S" version with an Atom Z3775 version in the "S" version. In turbo mode, the "S" runs up to 2.39 GHz vs. 1.86 GHz of the "non-S" version.
The new "S" model is *probably* also running a newer version of the BIOS, though I'm sure you can flash a "non-S" model to the newer BIOS version(s) that the "S" runs.
I ordered my "S" over the weekend and it hasn't arrived yet so I can't really guess beyond that. The information above is what I've been able to find from online review sites and tech specs on Intel's site. Hope this helps! see less

But there are a couple of considerations to note before you decide to get the additional storage: it does not appear that this is an SSD (solid state drive); battery life will be reduced; my preference is for SSDs, primarily because they seem more durable, especially for travel. Also, there is a micro SDHC slot on the tablet and you can add at 128GB there (I don't think there are larger capacity cards yet). My personal choice was to not get the additional disk space and get a 64GB SanDisk ultra Micro SDHC instead (http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B009QZH6JS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). see less In short, you get an additional 500gb of disk storage when the tablet is docked to the keyboard. The whole charger is like a phone charger, Small, lightweight, compact. The power cord is actually a USB to micro USB cable - like a standard one that you use on phones or other appliances. I concur with Thorbr55. There's a 2.0 micro USB port on the tablet and a 3.0 full size USB port on the mobile dock or keyboard. There's also a micro HDMI port on the tablet.
