If you do not wear glasses, ignore the following -- it is for
choosing special lenses only:
1) Convert Focal Length to Diopters. This formula is:
FL / 1000 = Dr
and Google Cardboard needs FL= 40 or 43 for 20/20 vision,
so their Diopters would normally be +25 to +23.25.
2) Find the prescription for your eyeglasses or contacts. It will
be a negative number of diopters if you are near-sighted. Add
that (probably negative number) to the +23.25 above, for
example (+23.25) + (-5.25) = +18.00 .
3) Convert Diopters back to Focal Length to get an FL number
for ordering the lens from a place like SurplusShed.com. This
formula is:
Dr / 1000 = FL
for example for my nearsighted eyes, 1000 / +18Dr = FL +55.6
Your Mileage May Vary. You may have to experiment and order a
few lenses to find the ones that are perfect for you but these 25 mm
diameter, BiConvex lenses are really cheap at SurplusShed.com.
Good luck.
