Hi Chickenpotpie ~ it is made in China and did not find this out until I had made my purchase and I was a little reluctant. To my surprise, it is a very sturdy item and probably more in line with commercial grade. To go from broiler to oven to dishwasher? it has my vote.

The steel on this is very durable and not flimsy at all. We went with this item because the company ONLY makes this product and its a really good product. Did not understand the latter part of the question to be able to answer that for you. I am sorry.
