Yes, these are split yellow mung beans. Not lentils in the sense of the true "lentil" (flat round green or red beans). Like you I was looking for split mung beans not lentils. These are true split mung beans and are yellow ovals and split. They are great in a dal or kitchari. These are of great quality too.

I trusted the information on the package and on the Amazon description of the product. You can try to contact the company that makes this product before you order it. I've been using it for a while now and I am very satisfied with it. It definitely improved my digestive issues when I used it to make kitchari.

It does appear to be removed. When soaked, I only got a nice lightly firm split bean without skin particals

They are mung beans that have been split. They are yellow, oval. They are not the flat round western green, brown or red lentils. These moong dal beans are the ones to use in a "dal" Indian dish or anything you want for that matter. They are often referred to a lentil but not the flat round ones.
