I talked to a rep at Wrangler and gave her the item number for these. These are indeed relaxed fit, but they are made especially for Amazon. They are called "Authentics", which are different than the relaxed fit jeans that are labeled "Relax Fit" at Walmart. No. The relaxed fit does NOT have the spandex waist.

Im not sure, I wear Justin work boots and they fit great, they are a little full around the boots . I hope this hlelps, I am well pleased with the jeans.

Dye transfer wasn't an issue. Worn straight out of package. I did wash after first time worn.

Not fixed. I received today two pairs of 40x30 advertised as relaxed fit. The jeans do not show anywhere the "relaxed fit" label and the crotch measurement is a full 1" less than my real relaxed fit Wrangler jeans (waist band to crotch is 16" v. 17").
The result is tight in the butt. Not the look and feel I am going for.
