It fits, but the screws that the iMac uses to mount the Hard Drive don't fit this bracket. The holes must be re-threaded to the correct size.

Thickness is sort of irrelevant for these adaptors. The drive adapter works with any thickness 2.5 inch SSD or HDD. I used mine to install a HDD in a micro ATX case.

This with a 2.5 SSD mounted to it takes up less space thickness wise than a 3.5 HDD but has the same footprint. This will fit in any case that can fit a 3.5 HDD

Yes, the Samsung will fit just fine. The problem I had with the bracket was the hole placements for fitting in the frame of my HP desktop. Could only use two of the holes on the bracket.

Yes it converts a standard size 3.5 desktop drive mount to a 2.5 laptop size drive. On Dells that have the screwless drive bracket holders I found that drilling the side threaded holes to 1/8" clearance they work better. I've used dozens of these and they work perfectly.

Comes with two sizes of screws but I used one set (tiny) to secure Ssd to bracket and oth5 (larger ) to attach to 3.5" bay
