I've had Norelco shavers my entire adult life and I'm 77 now. I get about 5 - 7 years out of one. Clean monthly and oil lightly.

If your talking about oiling the shaver I don't think thats required as no oil came with it. If your talking about rinsing with water they recommend after each shave but I find a couple times weekly seems adequate. Of course that will depend on how heavy a beard you have.

You'll need to 'condition' the battery at first for around 12 hours. And what I did was use it until the battery depleted completely and charged it again. After that a full charge only takes 4 to 6 hours. Hope this helps.

I cannot compare it to a foil since I don't have a foil razor. No electric I ever had comes as close as a manual razor blade.
This Norelco is decent though and shaves well.
