I play racquetball with them, and they are comfortable for. I would imagine they would be good for running. I have no complaints with them.

It is actually 4E because that is what I wear and they fit perfect.

In my opinion, they are slip resistant. They certainly do not slip when I am on a walk. I have not tried them on ice, though. I did not buy them until have the weather turned warm.

D is medium width, E is wide, 4E is extra wide (like EEEE.) The more E's the wider the shoe.

I put insoles over the originals. There's enough room for both and your foot if you don't want to risk damaging your shoes.
