Answer:
I used this bag for 2+ weeks in Europe. We went to several cities in Germany, Brussels and London. My mom and I both had one as our carry on. We packed light. I had 2 pairs of shoes, 3 pairs of pants and a dress I think. I am plus size with large feet.

Just walked away and put a few heavier items in the coat pockets and the bags were good to go. Compression straps help keep the bag size within limits. I don’t recall any airlines in Europe checking demensions of the bags, only the weight. The Osprey bags themselves are extremely light and great for carry-on only travel. One thing we noticed is the black colored bag appears smaller than the bright blue even though they were identical dimensions. All black will draw less attention at the check in counter. see less Yes...we flew LAX to Paris CDG on Norwegian 777 with two Porter 46 packs. Answer:
As far as I know, the dimensions are a little different. Same 46 liters and maybe more pockets. I went with the newer model for the color to my husbands dismay, since it's $50 more.

The new 2017 has a lockable, U-shaped zip for the main compartment just like the old model. Main differences are: Lockable laptop compartment at the back of the pack (including an additional zippered pocket inside the laptop compartment large enough for an iPad, which is also a good place for documents e.g. passport), … see more The new 2017 has a lockable, U-shaped zip for the main compartment just like the old model. Answer:
Great question. I have flown with the farpoint 55 which is larger on SW without a problem. My son did all of Europe with this bag and did not have a problem with storage. Hope this helps.

Answer:
It's not removable. The shoulder straps attach to the belt so you can tuck it into the back support and still use the shoulder straps. A buddy of mine removed the belts and set up his own hook in point for the shoulder straps with mediocre results. (He makes most of his own gear so it's not like he was stupid about it.)

Answer:
It will be a tight fit, and you’ll have to get creative, but you should be able to fit them inside.
