To answer your question. The answer is Yes. The front cover of the case does sit flush with the rest of the case and tablet when it is folded back. And Yes it does flop around.

I doubt it. The description says that it fits the Amazon Fire HD8 7th generation 2017. It has an 8 inch screen.

Dear customer, this case is designed for All-New Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet (7th Generation, 2017 Release) and Fire HD 8 Previous 6th Generation (2016 Release). If you are not sure about the model, here are some tricks to tell what device you have:
1. If you have both front view and rear view cameras and one speaker on the lower left back, as well as having the headphone jack next to the microphone, then you have the Fire 7 2015 model.
2. If you have both front view and rear view cameras and one speaker on the lower left back, and the headphone jack and microphone have the volume buttons in between them, then you have the Fire 7 2017 model.
3. If you have both front view and rear view cameras and two speakers on the back then you have the Fire HD 7 4th Generation 2014 model.
4. If you have the power/volume function next to each other on the same side of the device then you have the Kindle Fire HD 7” 2012 edition. This device will also include a front view camera, but not a rear view camera.
5. If you have the power/volume function opposite of each other on the device then you have the Kindle Fire HD 7” 2013 edition. This device will not have a camera.
6. If the power/volume function are on opposite sides of the device and you also have a front view camera then you have the Kindle Fire HDX 7” 2013. see less

No, this case does not fit Fire HD 8 (2015 Model 5th Gen). You can enter B015OCR754 directly into Amazon’s search bar for compatible case. Or we have folio case in Starry Night color that you can search B072KH3KZL for more information.
