No. You lean back just a little at the end of the pull and sit up straight again when you release the strap back to the machine.

If it arrived damaged, contact the seller. You might also be able to get a new monitor from the manufacturer.

I would say that it would support 220 lbs, but I wouldn't go over 250. You can always check with the manufacturer.

The machine does come with an owners manual. I couldn't find a phone number, but it should be on the Amazon website.
