I used it with an adaptor in London and Paris this summer. It was automatic. It’s a great flat iron. So much so that I threw out my older one and use this at home too!

I plugged it in in Portugal, using only an adapter, and it worked just fine. I’d buy again and it works fine in US.

The iron itself is not that long. There's really no need to hold it closed at the tip.
