Stupid question but did you turn the mouse on?
Try plugging it in with a wire and see if it works, if it does then maybe the device lost pairing with the dongle. You can go to logitech and try their pairing software.

Technically yes, it seems to have about the range of the regular dongle (several feet at least). It's not going to charge unless it's directly on the pad though, and the pad can only be associated with one mouse at a time.

the 502 HERO suffers from it badly im on my third mouse and will not RMA it again.im done!! this is the same mouse but wirerless buyer beware!!!

Most wireless technologies have at least a 30 foot range so you should be good. I've used this mouse at least 8-10 feet away from the receiver & it works perfectly fine as long as you're on a stable surface.
