Answer:
There is a relative paucity of NATIVE digital faces. Those that are available via a store download are crowded with options that either are rarely useful or not easily customized. I find this one of the minuses of the otherwise excellent watch.

You can control the brightness of the display. You can have it set to only light up when you turn your wrist to look at it, or keep the brightness up to be able to see it all the time. It is handy to glance at it and be able to see the time, regardless if it is fully lit up or not. I tried it when it wasn't lit up at all and not seeing anything on the watch at all seemed unnatural to me. see less You can control the brightness of the display. Answer:
There is now a “standard” option and a “with music” option. The “with music” watches allow you to store music on the watch itself. You would not need to carry your phone with these. The “standard” cannot play music except through the phone.

Answer:
20 feet or so, but it doesn't need to be in range constantly... It only needs the phone to sync or receive notifications. It doesn't need the phone in range when doing activities, it'll sync whenever it gets back in range.

But, three months of use the screen started to crack and developed into a spider web crack across the whole face and the watch wouldn’t respond to any of the touch commands. When I bought the watch I also purchased screen protectors and applied one. I thought the cracks were in the screen protector until I removed it this morning. I discovered the cracks were in the face screen and more of them I couldn’t see through the protector.
I don’t know when the damage occurred, I can’t remember hitting the watch hard enough to cause the damage. The repair cost is $110.00 and S&H both ways. For around $80.00 more I could buy a brand new watch. I’m wearing my old Timex that 10 year old and I’m filing the new Garmin in the trash. see less

Answer:
I had a Garmin Approach X40 which is a dedicated unit for golf. Vivoactive 3 is comparable to X40 or in some way better because of the larger screen. However, the battery doesn't seem to last 13 hours as claimed. At the end of 18 holes (5 hours), I was down to about 40% (started the round with 100% charged).
