I use a "GGMM D3 Battery Base for Dot3 to Make Dot3 Portable" to make my Dot portable within range of a wifi connection. I take it outside to mow the lawn or do chores. Battery lasts about 6 hours.

I have six Echo s peakers (four are Dots) and its as easy as saying “alexa, announce: “Dinner is ready”” and all devices in the house will repeat your message. That is the basic way. Of course, they all have to be on the same wi-fi network, but most people only have one in their homes anyway so......

You have to select a music provider in your Alexa app. If you don't select one, it defaults to Amazon Music, and if you are not a Prime member, you won't hear anything.

I just looked at the bottom of the echo it says Assembled in Vietnam.. I would bet the electronics were made in China... Good question that is something i am trying to make sure to do more of is buy less China made and more American.

Although, you can connect it to your cell phone... I do not believe it is necessary. You do need Internet and an Amazon account. I hope this helps.
