How do I watch live events on Prime Video?

All live events appear on the “Live & Upcoming” row as you scroll down the Prime Video or Channels homepages.

Note: You may need a Prime membership or subscription via a third-party carrier to access certain titles. If you'd like to make a purchase to access content, you can complete your order on the detail page you're trying to view.

On which devices can I watch live sports and events?

Live events are supported on web browsers and on more than 650 connected devices via the Prime Video app, including compatible games consoles (PS3, PS4, Xbox One), set-top boxes and media players (such as Google Chromecast, Roku, and Apple TV), smart TVs, Blu-ray players, tablets and mobile phones running iOS or Android. Amazon devices such as the Fire TV and Fire tablet also support live sport streaming.

Prime Video recommends a minimum download speed of 1MB/s for SD content and 5MB/s for HD content. Prime Video will serve the highest quality streaming experience possible based on the bandwidth speed available.

How many streams can I watch with my account?

We allow three concurrent streams within the same Amazon account, and up to two simultaneous streams of the same content.

Can I get stats for live sports?

X-Ray for live sports provides additional information like real-time stats, live play-by-plays, team and player information, and more while you watch. For supported events*, you can access X-Ray for any of the following devices:

  • Fire TV: by clicking up on your Fire TV remote
  • iOS/Android phones: by rotating your device vertically or tapping the X-Ray button located in the top left corner of the screen
  • iOS/Android tablet: by rotating your device vertically or tapping the X-Ray button located in the top left corner of the screen

What commentary options are available, and how do I listen to them?

Some events* may have alternate audio options, Once you’ve pressed play, select “Audio and commentary” from the menu and choose your commentators. Some smart TVs require you to select your “Audio and commentary” choice on the game page before you play the game.

Can I access my sports subscriptions and other events while traveling?

When traveling outside your home country, eligible Amazon Prime members will be shown the Watch While Abroad carousel when browsing Prime Video. In addition to titles listed in this carousel, only titles that you have purchased or rented may be streamed while you are traveling outside of your country of residence.

Troubleshooting


I don’t see the games on my mobile device or tablet.

Try updating your app to the latest version.

  • Android: Open the Google Play Store, select Prime Video, and then tap Update.
  • iOS: Open the App Store, search for Prime Video, and then, tap Update.

Why can't I record, fast forward or rewind my event?

Most live events on Prime Video allow customers to pause, rewind/fast forward, start over, and jump to live. However, some events may be subject to licensing restrictions that require us to disable this feature during live playback. Refer to the links below for details on a specific sport/event.

I'm trying to watch on my phone, but I see an error that says, "this video is unavailable." How do I fix it?

You may be trying to access restricted content with location services turned off. In order to fix, go to your phone settings and switch on location services for Prime Video. Alternatively, if you use anti-virus software, please make sure it does not block Prime Video from accessing location services.
