Overall we are pleased with the quality & appearance of this piece of furniture. The finish of the exterior frame and drawer fronts is nice, smooth and clean. Our only hangup is the mediocre materials for the drawer assemblies. Inexpensive/lightweight wood for the sides & bottoms is used. If you are not careful you can overtighten the screws which will damage/split the wood.
In conclusion, this is a good buy, it looks great and is designed to last last a few years. We feel that pricing for this item should be a bit lower because of the mediocre drawer construction materials/hardware.
Suggested target price $285-$325
Assembly takes a lot of time and extra care with force used on screws-- the slightest over-tightening will produce stripped holes and split wood.
The drawers have no dampening and close with a loud slap. Some creative use of adhesive felt solves the problem.
It's OK-- seems like it should cost under $150 given the quality.
We've had the espresso dresser and the Babyletto Mercer 3 in 1 Convertible Crib with Toddler Rail, Two Tone (in espresso) for 2 years. We bought the set in hopes of using it until our son is ready for a "big kid" bed. I would have been better off buying the display merchandise from IKEA. They are both pieces of junk. My husband put both pieces together with little difficulty, but within the first week, I accidentally hit the front with my nail and it left a huge scratch on the front of the drawer. My nail was still intact, so it definitely was not a hard hit.
Fast forward 2 years.
The front of the drawers never stay on. The cam screws do not stay tight, and now the wood has split on the side of each drawer. I'm afraid that our kid will pull the drawer open and the whole front will fall on him. It is covered in scratches.
The crib is also a piece of poop. Forget about the fact that our son used it as a teether and now probably has some kind of poisoning, but there are also scratches and gauges in the wood in the most random places - the inside of the corner, down by the mattress - which makes me think that the kid put the scratches in...with his tiny nails? What other weapon would he have? My husband has to tighten the sides at least once a month to make sure that it stays intact. The drawer on the bottom is ridiculous. We store 6 sheets, a bumper, and a mattress protector under there. The bottom of the drawer never stays in the pre-cut ridges, the front of that drawer falls off, and we have to keep the cam screws put with gorilla tape.
So now we're looking to buy new furniture for our kid. Bye-bye $700. Hello IKEA.
