I purchased two of these to monitor the power usage within my home while running on my 7500 watt generator during a power outage. These things work great! You can easily monitor the power usage and get more efficiency out of your generator without worrying about miscalculating load. I installed 2 of these in a 240v 70 amp distribution panel. I connected the top monitor to the line 1 (120v) and the bottom monitor to line 2 (120v). Now I can see the actual power load of the appliances in my home which allows me to use things like my toaster oven and microwave that I never thought was possible while on generator.

Fun little AC Ammeters! When our power bill spiked several months ago I picked up a few of these to track down usage by circuit. You can use them on both 120V and 240V AC circuits, but be aware some 240V AC appliances (dryer, oven) don't have similar readings on each legs, whereas others (hot water heater, air conditioner) do.

I really appreciate how the readings aren't discarded upon loss of power.

One can easily cut an appropriate size hold in a 4" metal junction box cover using a drill and jig jaw, mount the meter on that, and then put the whole shebang in a junction box. These are right at home on top of your existing service panel (see pics).

Sometimes I'll get minor readings showing very slightly power consumption when there is none... or the Watts / Volts = Amps equation is not quite in check (again, very minor errors), but keep in mind this is an inexpensive meter and lab-grade accuracy should not be expected.

I'd definitely buy again!

Now I can finally see how much power my desktop is finally pulling. I have been trying to get an idea of my power usage and amp draw while in game. I couldn't be happier with the result of this meter. One note I have to make mention of there is really no mounting hard ware for this meter. That being said you need to figure out your own enclosure and mounting style. I wired it inside a 2X4 grounded electrical box as I have posted an image below.

I didn't deduct a star from this meter because from looking at the images it didn't appear to have a mounting method so just keep that in mind if you decide to buy.

Well I had a 50/50 chance and I managed to install my meter upside down. I misplaced the instructions, but they were pretty minimal from what I remember. I can't complain about the meter though. It works great, especially once I figured out how to reset the energy usage.

I installed it to measure the Total Energy cost for my EV on a 240V circuit. That included the cost of electricity that the meter itself consumes, which is roughly 1.5 watts of power if it's correct. The current transformer (CT) was sufficiently large enough to slip a 6 gauge wire though for the power measurement.

I only wish it had a bit better resolution on the kWH energy meter. Once it gets into the teens you lose the tenth of a digit of precision. It really doesn't matter since the power company bills on kWH. I just happen to be a data nerd. For the cost of the meter it's seems like an outstanding value.

Nice inexpensive way to measure circuits at the panel

5th star is for the excellent diagram posted to Help comments by the seller. This support diagram makes the product make sense.

Did myself a favor and ran all wires with 12ga out of a 2-ft hunk of Romex, with wire nuts and tie wraps to fix it all together into a fairly usable "tool". This way I can pull the hot & neutral off a circuit, wire-nut them thru the tool, and have full-load current flow to get the best measurements.

It'd be nice if there was a peak hold and a way to read and save surge-current curve, for accurate measurement of motor startup loads. As it is, the readings showed up too slow to give me any info on LRA surge for my septic pump, but was quick enough to show me the soft-start surge steps for my furnace fan.

So glad I found this!
I love it for 220V wired-in appliances. First up is my water heater. About 15 more items to go after that. I plan to do most of them right at the breaker panel. The split core current sensor is great for doing it at the breaker panel, since don't need to disconnect the Romex from the breakers. Can even monitor several lines at once, just clip the core over the wires you want.

After my inventory, I plan to leave one permanently hooked up to the line to my daughter's AC/Heat Pump. If she's burning through the KWh, I want to know about it.

I purchased this to monitor the power output of a new tie inverter. Although my off-grid solar controller was showing 410 watts of DC power going in from my ten 100 watt panels, the bayite meter was showing only 120 watts of AC power going out. At first I thought the tie inverter was suffering from serious inefficiencies because the scale was the same for any amount of power -i.e. the solar controller always showed about 3.5 times more power going in than the bayite meter showed going out. But as a last resort I got a new AC power meter made by DROK, set it up using the same configuration and cabling, and it showed output power that was within just one or two watts of that which was reported going in from the solar controller. Just to be sure, I re-installed the bayite meter and verified that the inaccuracy still existed. At this point I don't know if it was the bayite meter that was inaccurate or the hall sensor that came with it or both, but I'll be steering clear of bayite instruments from now on.
