Challenging common stereotypes of a displaced people, 'belonging' tells the story of what happens when ordinary people get caught up in the extraordinary circumstances of war. The Arab/Israeli wars of 1948 and 1967 changed the lives of thousands of Palestinian families forever. Told by two generations of surviving family members interspersed with historic footage, this is not a story of blame and bitterness. It is in fact a human story, one of displacement and loss, a story of longing and belonging. This documentary brings to life the deep-rooted attachment Palestinians have to their lost homes, and land, and that of their ancestors.

Top customer reviews
This is an excellent teaching tool that can be used in both high school history and social sciences classes, as well as at the university level. I have used it in a variety of contexts, including my introductory class to Arab cultures, as well as in my Arabs in America course. The documentary consistently received very positive reviews from students.
