well that's expected - nothing fires up an artist in this industry more than beef. Been the formula for many for years. Before it was all "oh I'm not talking about her" and what not. No doubt someone got in her ear and told her to start responding directly to increase awareness and potential sales.
But this is not a "beef" - just a new artist giving a piece of mind to another artist no one cares about anymore which results in people, still not giving a care about either artists.
I can't see how people can even think to compare this Nicki Minaj to Lil Kim. I recently listened all the songs from Pink Friday, I'm still trying to see what's all the hype with this girl. REAL RAP doesnt have her name anywhere close to it, Just free picked words here and there just coming in to make rhyme and not make sense.
Lil Kim expalins here beef here 'http://keepittrill.com/online/2010/12/lil-kim-explains-beef-nicki-minaj/'
All this hype wasting people's time, energy and getting their hopes up, she needs to show respect to who she trying to impersonate! Amazing, now come in the game and think she's all dat, she gotta prove it! and she's nowhere close!
I totally agree. I grew up with people that could do a tight flow and an even tighter freestyle; Wu-Tang Clan, Biggie, 2pac, Redman, Method Man, and that's just 90's hip-hop. If you want to go even further, take Grandmaster Flash, Sugar Hill Gang, N.W.A., and the list goes on...
Kids nowadays are talking about how Lil' Wayne is the "Best Rapper Alive"...not...even...close. There are videos out there with Lil' Wayne trying to "freestyle"; it is a PAIN to watch because he clearly says under his breath "I don't even know how to rap.", but in his so-called "freestyle", the words don't even rhyme or even go together.
Today is all about image; the record companies don't care if you can sing or even have a good rhyming skills. All they care about is how much money you can make for them. There are a LOT of MC's out there that GET NO SHINE in the mainstream and they are strictly underground. Nowadays, if you want REAL hip-hop, go underground.
It is sad to see the state of hip-hop like this; also, a LOT of today's artists don't respect the people that came before them; Kim came BEFORE Nicki, and so did a LOT of other female MC's; MC Lyte, Foxy Brown, Rah Digga, and again the list goes on. For someone that is still *wet* behind the ears in this industry, all I gotta say is that Nicki better be careful on who she starts beef with in this industry because there is always someone who is going to be a up and coming female MC and can not only murder on the mic, but also on freestyle...their out there, it is only a matter of time.
Also Nicki, respect the people that came before you, and give a thank you to the female MC's who have come before you because, trust me, they have weathered the storm and they know that if get lost in the sea, and you can't swim...well, good luck.
Sorry she should be catergorized as a pop artist, its a disgrace to hip hop to call her a "rapper" . Her flows are weak , there's no substance behind them and her voice is annoying... if she didnt have a oversized ass, i am not sure we would be all here talking about "Weak Friday " if you enjoy or like her music thats cool. IMO she is NOT a representation of a bad ass female MC. One thing for sure.. A bad ass female MC does not have to oooze sex to sell records.. Her skills do that for her.
