Great ! Loved reading about Vladimir Kuts. My favorite runner. How tough he was. Also Soviet women’s gymnastics. Great Haven’t finished it yet, but is most enjoyable.

Very interesting, but much more so to me than most, as I was always fascinated by Yuri Vlasov who was a real hero to me as a young athlete. He was clearly a super athlete, but also an intellectual and a highly sensitive individual. Not exactly the type you would expect to see sweating bullets while lifting heavy weights. The fact that he was super heavyweight champion of the world from 1959,60 Olympic Champion,61,62,63 world champ and multiple world record holder in all three lifts really put him at an off the chart level in my opinion. The discussion of the scientific training and keeping his bodyweight from ballooning out of control always impressed me. He was truly a cultured man, but a man who thought out of the box but let his emotions cost him a second Olympic Gold medal in 1964. A most interesting story. I always wondered what happened in Tokyo in 1964
Asfor the other chapters, very interesting to anyone interested in sports but with a tremendous nationalistic bent.
EXcellent
I might add that the other chapters were highly interesting, but not in the manner chapter 9 was.
