+ They are IPX 5 certified, so you can go for a run in the rain or workup a nice sweat in the gym and not have to worry about ruining the earbuds.
+ The battery life is very good for TWS earbuds. I have tested a lot of pairs of TWS earbuds, and 2-5 hours is pretty much the norm for battery life. With these you can get upwards of 8 hours hours of listening or talk time.
+ They are super comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. I have absolutely no problem wearing these all day.
+ The sound quality is good, but I personally prefer my music to have a bit more bass than these headphones offer.
+ You won't have to worry about these falling off of your ears during a workout thanks to the earhooks.
- I would prefer a more bass heavy sound, but the overall sound quality of these is fine up until about 75% volume. Once you go over 75% volume they get more tinny and the sound quality begins to diminish (Note: you won't really want to listen to these over 75% anyways because at that point they are too loud for me).
The low signal strength is still the weakness of this set. However, I've discovered some strengths that partially compensate. I also discovered two other weaknesses:
(+). 2-device connection
This set can connect to two devices simultaneously. Typically for me that means connecting both my laptop and phone. This only works in mono mode though - meaning only the right headset is connected. Even so, I've found this feature to be very useful. I can be listening to content on my laptop and can still take calls as they come in. The system mutes the laptop when I answer the phone so I can take the call then unmutes the laptop as soon as I end the call. Note that this is mute/unmute, not pause. Even so, this is helpful.
(+) Simultaneous users
With 2 headsets you can share your audio with a family member or friend - as long as both of you remain within range.
(+) NOT noise-cancelling
There are people who crave noise-cancelling sets. But I don't. This set is not noise-cancelling which I consider a strength.
I have used noise-cancelling headsets/earbuds and they are definitely not safe for general use. I use this set while driving, while moving around in public and it allows me to hear enough ambient noise to enable me to remain aware of my surroundings and stay alert. Noise-cancelling headsets/earbuds leave you deaf to the world - which is unsafe for driving and for walking around in public. Those sets also interfere with your sense of balance. This set does not have that issue.
(-) Microphone sound quality
Persons on the other end of my calls have reported an unnatural sound to my voice while using this set.
(-) No caller ID
This set does not announce the callers number nor name. This is a significant weakness for me. I have a practice of answering all my calls, regardless of the caller, but it would still be nice to know who is calling. Without caller ID I'm not as well-prepared for the call as I would like to be.
Given these findings my rating remains at 3-stars. The set has some great capabilities but is still limited because of some annoying weaknesses.
December 10, 2017
These arrived today, so I've only had them a few hours, but I do want to give a first impression review. Will update it in a while after longer use.
Given that this set has two earbuds, each with detachable battery/microphone attachments there is some assembly to be done. It took 30 seconds to figure out which earbud matched which battery pack. What took a bit longer was locating the charging port on the battery pack (its ingeniously hidden under a concealed rubber flap). Charging took about 90 minutes.
I listen to content on my laptop well into the night, most nights. Up to now I was using a wired set but wanted to ditch that and move to wireless so that I could move around while listening. So I popped in both earbuds and hit the volume button to pair. It connected quickly. I began listening for a few minutes then decided to get up from the bed and walk over to the ensuite. The laptop was left on the bed (less than 15ft away). The connection deteriorated badly on that short trip. In fact, the sound kept tripping in and out differently in each ear - within seconds I lost all signal. It came back as I was moving back in to the bedroom from the ensuite, but came back into each ear separately, so now my content (music) was out of sync!! To fix it I had to disconnect both and reconnect again. Annoying.
With the laptop stationary the signal deteriorates badly around walls - just approaching a wall kills the connection. So even moving the around the bedroom is problematic. What's up with that? Mobility was the whole point of getting wireless earbuds.
Tomorrow I will pair with my phone and see if my experience there is any better.
If you're a music fan and want to hear the full range of sound - including your basses then this is not the set for you. The top end and middle notes are fine. They come across loudly and with great clarity. However, there is almost no bass so the overall sound is somewhat tinny.
This was my first impression after a few hours of owning/using. Will return and update this review after a bit more use.
I loved these earbuds at first, not having had wireless earbuds before. You can see my original review below. However, within 6 months, these became the most annoying headphones I have ever had. They have three major issues:
-The plastic covers over the speaker that go into your do not stay on, and it's a circus trying to keep them on and not lose them. I can't describe how utterly annoying this became. Not only do they not stay on, but they come off in the ear. So, half the time, I'd take off the earpiece and the plastic part would be in my ear (and hard to get out). This makes them extremely easy to lose. Sometimes, they fall out of the ear and fall on the ground, etc. If I put the earbuds in my purse or wallet, the plastic part ALWAYS came off, so then I'd have to dig around trying to find them each time I wanted to use them. For me, this was many times during the day, as I bike to work, put them back into my purse, take them out again to bike home, go running, etc. For the price point, this issue is unacceptable.
-The battery is big. This leads to the 5-hour play time, an amazing feature of these earbuds. However, for my ears, and I suspect many women's and some men's, they were so big that over time, they began to slip off, because they stretch a little with use. They would slip off mid-ride (that's how I eventually lose them on a bike home), get caught in clothes, etc.
-If you're using them to communicate with others hands-free, the sound quality is not good enough, I suspect because of the placement of the microphone. This might be an issue with all wireless earbuds, though.
I recently switched to SoundPeats, and they're amazing. They have none of these issues. It's hard for me to recommend this headset because of these problems, especially because they're $50. Even if you're a man or have big ears, you're going to have to deal with the terrible earpiece problem. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because of the play time and sound quality when listening to audio.
These headphones are pretty great--probably the best ones for sport and without cords that are on the market.
-They stay on the ears, for the most part.
-The earbuds stay inside the ears; I don't continually have to push them in while running.
-Sound quality is great.
-The L and R headsets stay connected to each other.
-The headsets stay connected to the phone, unlike other headsets.
Negatives: (why this isn't a five-star review)
-For female ears at least, the earbuds are still large and slightly clunky. I realize this prboably can't be helped due to limitations of current battery technology, but the headsets often feel like they're slipping, even when they're not.
-The earbuds fall off extremely easily; you have to keep a close eye on them. I've already lost one set and nearly lost the others multiple times. If you put the headsets in a bag, you will almost always find the earbuds off. I wouldn't travel without an extra set of earbuds!
-As another reviewer mentioned, to turn these off and on or use any of the buttons, you have to push the earbuds way into the ears, which is painful. I take them off and do it, but then it's hard to hear whether they're turning off/on. Also, I still haven't figure out how to accept a call with them on, and the volume is hard to change.
I would still recommend buying these headphones, and I anticipate Aminy will continue to improve them.
