Just to recap... Shoes good.... combined with sand bad.
Hope this review helps others.
I have had these for a couple of weeks now and LOVE these Crocs! Went to Lake Erie this past weekend and found out they make great boat shoes. spent about 2 hours on a 27 foot fiberglass fishing boat with wet decks and gunwales and not even close to a slip the entire time. Also spent half of that day walking around South Bass Island in 90 degree humid, rainy weather and they were more comfy than running shoes. These are much cooler than traditional Crocs and while they don't dry quite as fast, my feet don't sweat in them and I don't find them at all uncomfortable at all when they are wet. I also weighed them on my kitchen scales in response to an Amazon question and they weighed in at just over 14oz for the pair.
I should note that my needs are somewhat unique: I suffer from neurological pain in my feet from nerve damage due to Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). Any pressure on the sides, top, or toes of my feet will cause a large amount of discomfort. Additionally, rubbing on the bottom of my feet will hurt significantly. As a result, shoes are a bit of a sticky situation for me.
These shoes support my sole perfectly, have a velcro closure mechanism (which suited me perfectly when the nerve damage had reduced my dexterity for a season), are extremely comfortable, and do not put pressure in places they should not.
While these shoes were not explicitly engineered for the disabled or those in nerve pain, they are invaluable and I swear by them. The absolute only times I wear anything else out of the house are when I expect to encounter snow or when I need to be in formal pictures where my feet might be visible.
As for their aquatic potential, I can attest that I wore them to the pool and dangled my feet into the pool for an hour and change while watching the nephews swim. The shoes easily dried out in the sun afterwards and I was able to comfortably walk back to my house afterwards.
A few words of caution: my feet are a little wider than most, so it's possible if your feet are narrower you might have a different experience. Additionally, there are little dots on the top of the sole which I found irritating due to my hypersensitivity until I put on socks along with the sandals.
Very good sandals and I definitely recommend them, particularly for those with neuropathy or lower manual dexterity.
Surfed the web and found these on Amazon for less than $32 - no tax - shipping included. That is more than HALF the price had I purchased at Bass Pro.
Glad I tried on since had I ordered the size 9 from Amazon, it would have been too loose fitting. Arrived from Amazon in the factory shoe box with original packing and tags. Love these sandals - quality made (nice stitching), easy in and out with single velcro top strap, and very comfortable walking around. Time will tell how they do wearing at the beach and in the water, but so far so good.
Keep up the good work AMAZON - you saved me $33!
