Good seasoning for a new cast iron. Displays all the good things about a good cast iron skillet.

One fairly serious complaint: The silicone handle cover has a hole in it to match the shape of the handle. All well and good until you pick up the skillet and twist to adjust the angle to pour out liquid, etc. The silicone twists and your hand comes in contact with the hot iron. I chose not to drop the skillet so I got a pretty decent burn. I have since replaced the original silicone cover with another brand with no hole. Six bucks and a burn later we're all good.

Season Pan Again before you cook

I received my new 12 inch pan yesterday, 03/21/2022. I was raised on Cast Iron Cooking pans and Potts. It looked ok out of the box, my Mother always told me that if you want a good meal out of this thing, you gotta season it even if you did it before you put it away. So I put some All Vegetable Shortening all over it after heating it up a bit just to melt the shortening. Put it in the oven at 375 Deg's F, until it stopped smoking in the oven. About 50 minutes at my altitude in Vegas 2300 ft. Then let it cool on it's own. This morning I pulled it out, put a little olive oil in the pan and cooked 5 pieces of bacon at a medium heat and then turn off the heat. Drained the bacon fat out of the pan carefully cause that suckers hot. put the pan back on the stove a put on a low heat and added some butter and fried 5 eggs over medium. eggs did not stick first cook out of the box. Reminded me off Mom and breakfast was awesome. No burnt eggs or bacon!!! People today don't think they have to work to make good food... Their wrong... Plus it didn't really take much time...

Worst pan ever. I own several cast lron pans. Like them, No food sticks, great pans. Seasoned the same. Had to use wire wheel to clean. Buy at you own risk.
Up date/ I bought this pan twice. Sent the first one back. After first try on next one, took to garage. I buffed inside with angle grinder and heavy wire wheel. Seasoned inside six times. Now no stick. Deepest 6" cast iron pan on Amazon. Most work.but now my favorite. 4 star because of effort. Worth it.

I've been using non-stick pans, usually purchased as part of a set, for most of my adult life. None of them lasted more than a few years. They all discolor and the nonstick surface gradually wears off. I decided to try a more traditional cast iron skillet.
The Cuisinet was one of the less expensive skillets available from Amazon. It comes with a silicone sheath for the handle, which is a welcome feature. Because the handle is forged as a piece of the skillet, it gets just as hot as the rest of the skillet. You won't want to grip that silicone handle for very long with your bare hand when the skillet is hot, but I can use it long enough to dump the excess grease from the pan while it's still pour-able.
I took some time when I first received the skillet to season it. This involved coating the skillet with vegetable oil and baking it upside down in a hot oven for a couple of hours. The result is a skillet with a mostly non-stick surface.
My primary use for the skillet is frying bacon, eggs and hash browns, although I have used it for other dishes, as well. It heats evenly and I seldom have anything stick. Eggs lift right out of the pan without sticking.
One key use tip is to refrain from using soap or detergent to clean the pan. I usually just wipe it out with a paper towel once the pan has cooled. Occasionally, I'll use plain water and a metal "chain mail" scrubber (I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F76P97C) to remove cooked-on food. It's never taken me more than a few minutes to clean the skillet.
One fortuitous benefit is that I found a glass lid for a non-stick pan I already had fits the Cuisinet skillet perfectly. I don't need the lid often, but it's nice to have one available.
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product. I would buy one again, but it will probably outlast me.

I LOVE THIS SKILLET!!! Caught it at a discounted price and it is WELL worth it. I received it in a timely manner and well packaged. I seasoned it and immediately cooked in it. NO STICKING!! I did this for three days and seasoned it each day. Coming from the old school when we used grease and lard on a regular basis, the pan was always going through the seasoning process. Granted... these pans aren't like those from the early 1900's but if you take care of them properly... they will serve their purpose and have a long life.
SEASON OFTEN! & KEEP DRY!

Great value and works very well with even heat distribution from my induction hob. It is slightly rough but compared to pans costing 5 times more I think I can live with that. The silicone handle cover works well.

Cast iron pans take a little extra work. I always wash it then dry with a towel before giving it 30 seconds on the hob to dry properly. I then give a quick wipe with oil. If you do this it won't rust.

Great skillet for the price. It says that the cast iron is already seasoned, but I highly recommend seasoning it yourself as well. Cleaning is simple with some water and a nylon scrubby. Just make sure you don't let a dirty cast iron pan sit for too long. To avoid any potential problems, and for overall cleaning simplicity, you'll want to clean it, dry it, and re-oil it as soon as possible. Also the silicon handle is great, and makes cooking so much easier. Just make sure you remove the silicon handle from the skillet before you put it into the oven.
