Customer Q&A

Hello, Mitch here, with Keto-Mojo. This is a good question. The answer is that before the ketogenic diet became popular, the only people who tested for ketones were diabetics, and they did it rarely. So, while there were millions of glucose strips in use daily, the number of ketone ones was very low. Simply, volume allowed the cost to be much lower for glucose. The solution used on the strips is also more expensive. When Keto-Mojo came to the market, blood ketone strips were between $3-$5 each. We launched with $ .99 ketone strips and began the drop in prices everywhere. Other brands lowered pricing to match us. As the Ketogenic diet becomes more popular, expect more!

I love it I have been on keto for a month and I finally got my mom who’s a diabetic on it so to monitor our ketones We decided to get a meter we test ourselves one a week to make sure we are within optimal range but when I first started I tested every day to find out what food was working for me and against me either way love the meter it’s very easy to use

Customer Q&A

Yes. It’s just like a diabetic would use when they check their “sugar” level only you are checking your ketone level. I bought a box of 100 needles at Walgreens for maybe $15.

Why are the ketone strips so much more expensive?

Customer Q&A
How accurate are the blood glucose readings? Someone in these answers says they can be off 15 points either way!

We have been using the monitor for about 40 days now and it is very helpful in tracking fasting and after meal glucose levels but we really do not know if they are truly accurate. Since we are using no prescription medications we are using it to know if we are continuing to lower levels to more normal levels and not diabetic levels and also to determine which ketogenic foods might be avoided or included as we continue both keto adapt. I did see where if you have an accuracy question a person could take three readings from one sample and average them for better accuracy if needed.

Quality meter, good price point, and gives peace of mind to a diabetic like me

…I am a Type 2 diabetic (non-insulin) and my Doctor put me on a new medication (the same class of drug you see on TV all the time) since I had been 'misbehaving' and not eating properly, and it worked remarkably well. So well that I actually was admitted to an ER/ICU with euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA with normal blood sugar range, a quite rare occurrence).…I've been a diabetic for 8 years now, using a glucometer at least twice daily all this time, and 99.99% of the time, I get it right.…

Customer Q&A
This will indicate if I am diabetic? I mean it will show my levels of glucose accurately. Which number would indicate diabetes?

Pre diabetic is 126 and above. Reading of 200 would indicate diabetes. Normal fasting glucose should be 65-90.

Customer Q&A
Does anyone use this for pets as well as humans? I want to buy it for myself, but we also have a diabetic cat, wondering if it would work for her too.

I’m not sure

What is the shelf-life of the test strips once opened? I would be using this for diabetes and only need to use it a couple times a year at most.

There should be a use by date on the package. I believe I read that you'll have at least 6 months.

Customer Q&A
Is this a INR test kit

The Keto-Mojo TD-4279 meter is an FDA-approved class II medical device for the in vitro self-testing of glucose and ketone levels, and it's suitable for testing for Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes. It is not an INR Test Kit.

Customer Q&A
How do you justify a cost of $50 for these when the glucose strips are $18?

There are a number of reasons ketone and glucose strips are not the same pricing. One of the biggest reasons is supply and demand. In the most recent stats released by http://www.diabetes.org In 2017, 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4% of the population, had diabetes. Approximately 1.25 million American children and adults have type 1 diabetes. Many of these people test 2 or 3 times a day. The ketogenic diet testing does not even come close to these numbers. And many people on the Ketogenic diet do not test at all. When we start to see more people testing ketones this will help to bring the cost down across the industry. There is also the cost to make these strips. The enzyme for ketone strips is more than the glucose enzyme. https://help.keto-mojo.com/l/en/article/nphfn7c4gz-ketone-strip-pricing

do you need to change the needle every time you use it?

Yes. It’s just like a diabetic would use when they check their “sugar” level only you are checking your ketone level. I bought a box of 100 needles at Walgreens for maybe $15.

Customer Q&A
What does my reading mean? My first try shows a .9. The book says I need to call a doctor?

Hey thanks for asking! For Type 1 Diabetics any ketones present can be dangerous. If you’re on a ketogenic diet, however, use the quick start guide numbers as a reference. Or check out our website for more resources!

Easy Touch Lancets

…The Easy Touch works fine for checking my diabetes!…

Customer Review
It works very well.

I used the lancets for my diabetes.

Customer Q&A
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm buying these for my grandmother so i dont knkw about this stuff. Are these to create a few drops of blood?

These are placed into a lancing device to successfully puncture at a location of choice for the smallest drops possible for a successfully reading of your diabetic meter.

Customer Q&A
Has anyone used this with the True2Go meter?

These lancets can be used with any diabetic meter. The question is what lancing device are you using? These lancets fit with *most* lancing devices including the TrueDraw Lancing device. Hope this helps!
