I've used this for ginger root, cheese, lemon, carrots, and nuts. I love it! It works really well and unlike a normal cheese grater, it cleans really well!
…It looks just like the zesters used on the Food Channel by all the top chefs, it is full size and hand-comfortable!
We got our microplane zester as a gift, and my dad loved it so much that we got him one for his birthday. This product is the absolute *best* for grating Parmesan cheese, ginger, garlic and, of course, for zesting citrus. I have heard that carrots and other hard vegetables can be grated using this product, as well. It goes in the dishwasher and comes out completely clean. The cutting edge never seems to dull; we've had ours 18 months and use it multiple times a week.…
Cooking and baking have never been easier. Making waffles with zesting oranges and lemons have made me feel like a chef. Unlike others I had, clean up is a breeze. I dont have to worry about my kids hurting themselves eother.

If you want to grate hard Parmesan cheese into a beautiful snow like topping for pastas and anything else that your heart desires then this is the micro plane for you. Works well and is easy to clean.
This is the real deal, food and cooking enthusiast praise the Microplane and they are right!
Hello - there is not a food holder available for this tool, however we do offer a Cut Resistant Glove that will protect your fingers while grating small pieces of food.
Yes, for small quantities. For large quantities, I peel and slice the ginger agains the grain, then put it into the food processor. Put the ginger a jar and fill it with sherry or rice vinegar. It will keep for several weeks this way.
zest or grate anything - this is a wonderful kitchen tool..... the length esp helps in food prep...i had the shorter ones...uses more energy and needs more work... i guess theres a reason why the chefs on food network use this too... buy as gifts... superb stuff.
Works great and does all kinds of food items.…
Awesome zester. Good quality and very heavy duty cover. Professional quality so use with care.
I like it best for zesting citrus, but also used it for garlic & ginger. For large amounts of ginger, I use a food processor, but this is great for small amounts. Don't know about fresh turmeric.
Here's what I found out. The manufacturer's website says the zester handle is made of TPE [Thermoplastic Elastomer] which refers to a large family of plastics. All I could find out about PBA is that it's a disease. Possibly you were thinking of BPA-- that's the chemical believed by scientists to have reproductive effects in animals. Someone at Microplane would know exactly what kind of TPE is in the handle and whether it's safe to use around food. Meanwhile, Microplane makes a zester with a wooden handle; but unfortunately, it's more expensive.

This is my first actual zester and it allows me to zest my fruit skins exactly the way I see it used on the Food channel.
Great for food or destroying callouses!
…The result is a very fine and perfectly grated food item, quite effortlessly.
…The handle is nice and made from material and texture which allowed me to keep a good grip, even when grating hard foods.…
…So many foods to zest!…
…The teeth are razor sharp and will decimate garlic and shallots giving them the texture of baby food.…
I have always used a grater and it was hard to get the food out of the holes.…
…Sometimes there is food residue left on it, but it is usually very minimal and you can just remove it with your finger.
…The problem is that because holes are so small, it gets stuck and you have to scrap to remove grated food.
…It looks just like the zesters used on the Food Channel by all the top chefs, it is full size and hand-comfortable!
…Making certain desserts call for a zester and the grater usage enhances foods for flavor and presentation.…
…Not longer need to spend your time picking your food out of a standard grater.
I assume it's for grating with the cover on (perhaps on the opposite side it's normally on?) so you can then disperse the grated food through the holes. That's my guess anyway, buying it now.
…Started one of the food deliveries menus... and this was something that kept coming up...…
…Unfortunately, the metal wraps around the back of the grater making it difficult to scrape food free.…

Very nice zester. It really does a good job.
Works great for finely grated food.
Wow, what an interesting subject. The softest food-object I've used the zester for is lemon rind, much of which (because of its softness and moisture-content) gets stuck in the grater's teeth. In my experience it works great for harder foods such as whole nutmeg and occasionally other similarly textured foods like very hard parmigiano. Although I have never tried celery, I imagine it is too moisture-laden and "limp" a food-object to be grated by the teeny "teeth" of this grater. Just put your magnification-eyeglasses on and dice with a good knife! Best regards!
This is awesome, just be careful not to put any finger/fingernails in your food!!
This is the best food plane EVER.…
…Wonderful to have zester that can add the little pep to your foods easily
…Use a food processor, a box grater, or buy the pre-shredded stuff for that.
…I use it to make a powder from desiccated liver to put in my dog's food, as well as for zesting citrus fruits.
…I have one for my house, two for my food truck, and I've given several as gifts.…
