It get the job done. Definitely reccomend over hairspray. Has a nice matte finish that protects your artwork while being unnoticible IF you use it right (if you don't shake well, you will have droplets of spray that dry dark on your work).

Cautions:
- TOXIC. I hate the smell of this stuff and know several older artists who, after using tgis for years, have developed brain and eye problem. Very scary stuff. I HIGHLY reccomend using this outdoors, with a mask over your face to protect from fumes.
- Leak risk. Don't leave this on its side. I learned that the hard way. Leaked all over my art bin and literally glued my expensive graphite pencils together.

This stuff is magic! Ok, well maybe not magic, but definitely awesome! I am a bride-to-be and unknowingly purchased the pigment ink to stamp my invite envelopes. The ink wouldn’t dry, even after sitting out for about a week. I was devastated and thought I would have to buy new envelopes and start again. I did a quick Google search before scrapping my hard work and found that other brides have had the same problem in the past. All the posts I read recommended the Krylon Fixatif Spray. I figured for less than $12 I should give it a shot and try to save my invites.

Shipping: I am normally leery about having aerosol products shipped, but this arrived quickly (Prime) and packed well. The box had little air pillows to help hold the can in place. Perfect!

Now, the one drawback on this product is that it smells pretty bad. I would compare the smell to a spray paint. So, if using inside, definitely get a fan going and open a window. But, other than the smell I am very satisfied. The spray goes on easily and doesn’t leave the envelopes wet or with a residue, and they’re dry almost immediately. I could not be happier with this product, it truly saved the day for me!

Works, but TEST before using

I bought this for the excellent reviews it received and I feel like most of them were not made by people working to create fine art pieces. I wanted to test this out for a 50"x40" charcoal piece and on some smaller colored pencil pieces. Sprayed nicely over colored pencils. Spraying over charcoal was a bit more difficult. In order to not have the fixative spray land as large particles on my piece, I tried to spray from very high above. Unfortunately, you could still see the marks of where it landed after drying. Seems to absorb the charcoal. Dries clear, but darkens slightly.

I would definitely suggest making a test area - drawing, coloring, painting a small area on the same material you want to apply the fixative to before spraying on a large area. It's only been a week or so since I applied the fixative to my work and I will have to check back in a few months to see how well it has held up.

Keeps my Sketches in great condition, especially charcoal sketches. Good for sketchbooks etc. Locks in the drawing and still allows you to draw over.

So if your working on a large piece you can give it a light coat it drys in like 30 seconds then don't have to worry about your hand touching the paper and smudging the pencil.

Couldn't live without this when I working with chalk pastels. I have a tip for new users, don't get too close to your work, the first time I used it I couldn't figure out why it was making my work look dingy. Turned out I was too close and the propellant was blowing the pastel around! LOL I now spray a little off to the side and then do fast, sweeping strokes from side to side. Do a couple of layers leaving a little time for it to dry between each coat.
