I bought it because of the great price, but it turned out that they were much cuter and classier than expected. I am a true size 9, and these fit like an 8 or 8.5. I don't understand it, as I purchased a pair of Bear Paw "Boetis II" at the same time, and my big toe does not hit the front of that boot, and are incredibly comfortable with a medium sock on.
I don't want to buy a size 10, as they may be too big (and they are more expensive). I will put on an acceptable sock and try these again because I really want to keep them.
Update: No...with a medium sock on these were almost a size too small. Returned them today. I hope to find a pair in size 10 on sale at the end of the season.
The recommendation was generally to order a size up, which I did--the first pair I ordered was size 8, as I generally wear about a size 7-7.5. They were too large for me--they looked it and they felt like they were about to slip off when I walked, although the amount of toe room was about perfect.
I exchanged them for a size 7, and I was amazed at how drastic the difference was in the sizing. This pair fit almost perfectly (they are quite snug), except for the fact that the toes were a little tight. After wearing them for a few weeks, they have stretched out a bit, and are now quite comfortable except for one small spot in the right toe that still tends to rub. But I do love the style!
My impression is that if your feet are on the wider side, you'll definitely want to order a size up from what you usually wear--they are quite narrow in their cut. If, however, your feet are smaller or narrower (like mine are), you will likely be safe with your normal size. If you want to be sure, it's worth ordering two sizes and returning the one that doesn't fit as well.
I am disappointed because I think they're really beautiful but I'm going to have to return them.
