David Milofsky was born in New York and grew up in Wisconsin where he attended public schools and the University of Wisconsin. He subsequently received an M.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has taught at Umass, Middlebury College, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Iowa State University, the University of Denver and Colorado State University, where is now professor emeritus. He has directed writing programs at Denver and Colorado State and edited the literary magazines Denver Quarterly and Colorado Review. He is the author of five novels and many short stories and reviews. He has received fellowships from the Breadloaf Writers' Conference, the New Writing Conference, the MacDowell Colony and the National Endowment for the Arts. He is also the recipient of a short story award from Prairie Schooner and the Colorado Book Award for Color of Law. He lives in Denver with his wife Jean.
