Born and brought up in Rockford, Illinois. Has lived in New Mexico, New Orleans, North Carolina, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, and Dallas again. Now makes her home halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. Is the first cousin, thirteen times removed, of Bessie Blount, Henry VIII's mistress and mother of the ill-fated little Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond.
Solitary, contemplative, curious about everything, a lifelong introvert who's always had a head full of stories. Lover of animals, plants and books, chocolate and popcorn. Reads everything she can get her hands on. Has always loved history and historical fiction in particular, so when she sat down to write, historical fiction appeared on the page. Tends to fade into the background in groups but delights in individuals.
Lives with husband and two beloved beagles.
