Valerie Ormond retired after a 25-year career as a naval intelligence officer and began her second career as a writer. She founded her own business, Veteran Writing Services, LLC, providing companies and organizations professional writing, editing, and consulting services.
Valerie’s two novels, "Believing In Horses," and "Believing In Horses, Too," tell stories of a strong-willed young girl who overcomes challenges based on her love of horses. Both books won Gold Medals in the Military Writers Society of America book awards and other first place awards including from the Stars and Flags book awards and The Authors’ Zone book awards. Her first novel earned the Parent Tested Parent Approved Official Seal of Approval and Best Product Award.
Valerie’s non-fiction stories have been published in books of various genres, and her articles have appeared in magazines, newspapers, and blogs.
She holds memberships and serves on the Board of Directors for writing, equine, and Veterans organizations. Valerie and her husband own and ride their three horses and live with their three dogs in Bowie, Maryland.
