Hi, I'll begin by introducing myself: I am Wendy Anne Gibbins-lekkou, professionally I use Wendy Gibbins as it's shorter and easier for people to remember.
I was born and grew up in the North of England, in a town called Hull. At the age of 11 I left home to study dance full time. It was a great experience. When I left school I started to travel whilst working as a professional dancer, eventually getting married and settling in Greece, where I have been living for many years.
I have had a career as a dancer, working in : Theatre, the music industry in Greece, advertising events and TV spots. I also spent a great amount of time dancing on TV shows.
I then ventured into choreography, which took me to the Eurovision Song Contest in Estonia and Finland, I choreograph theatre and TV, including programs such as "Greek Idol" and I was lucky enough to be one of the choreographers for "So You Think You Can Dance"-Greece. I have choreographed many Greek Pop Stars and worked on many advertising campaigns. I love it, why? The answer is freedom of expression.
I started writing as a new method of drawing pictures for people to see and to reinforce messages created using dance.
I became engrossed with writing and didn't stop until I completed my book "Kiss on Her Wings" I hope people will enjoy my efforts. I am optimistic my book will take its readers on a colourful journey that is worth their while.
Since I started writing I have realised it is a process through which I have discovered some issues that affect me greatly, and through my book I have found that injustice is one of those things. I am now in the middle of writing my second book which also deals with the reflection of ethics, both noble and cruel.
