Karen Holden is a poet, artist, and educator.
Published widely, her work crosses disciplines. Her most recent book, This Music, is comprised of 22 poems written in response to music—from Bach to Moondog, Duke Ellington to James Taylor. Book of Changes is a volume of 64 poems based on the ancient Chinese text I Ching, and the limited edition How Love Comes Home: Los Angeles in Four Voices weaves family story into the history of Los Angeles through poetry, essays, and images.
In addition, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art commissioned Holden to respond to works of art in their permanent collection. The poems are part of the museum’s mobile tour and can be read or listened to on the museum's website: www.lacma.org.
A native Los Angelina, Karen Holden works in higher education communications, and teaches persuasive and creative writing at museums, schools, and professional conferences.
