Stronger: A Super Human Clash Hardcover – June 14, 2012
All Gethin Rao wants is to be like every other boy his age. But normal twelve-year-olds aren't blue. And they certainly aren't thirteen feet tall. That's what happens when his superpowers kick in. And from that moment on, his life is never the same. Treated as a villain--a monster--Gethin spends the rest of his life on the run or as a prisoner in a secret military facility.
When he finally escapes, he falls in with a group of superpowered teens and becomes the one thing he never thought he'd be: a hero. But as the years pass by and he takes the name Brawn, Gethin learns that being a good guy is a lot more difficult than he thought.
Michael Carroll delves deeper into the life of one of his favorite characters and in the process gives readers his most satisfying, exciting adventure yet, which leads directly into his Quantum Prophecy trilogy.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2012The "Quantum Prophecy/Super Human" series is one of the most under appreciated group of books I've ever seen. WAAAY better than Harry Potter & Twilight.
"Stronger" has a bit of awkward continuity, but if you're familiar with the series this is no issue. The book begins 4 years before "super human" and ends during the events of "The Reckoning." It tells the life of Brawn, a character featured in the first two books and boy is it exciting! I don't want to spoil anything, so I don't want to say anything about the plot itself :(
The book teaches good morals for younger children, so that's good too!
Prior to the book's release I received a very neat Iron man inspired "Stronger" poster & along with a collection of short stories that featured Brawn in one of them.
I'm interested to see what "Hunter" the book after Stronger brings to the series. There's only 2 years between Stronger and "The Awakening."
The only issue I've ever had with these books is the way the Author portrays Americans. Most of the background characters talk with these awkward slang words. .
VERY good read!
Sorry for this terrible review :))
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2014This was probably the best book I have read by this author so far and I found this book to be a recap on the series so far but from a different view. CAUTION SPOILERS the life of brain is not the happy tale I hoped for him he was never trying to be on the side of evil but because he was the most caring hero he got rejected for seeing the glass half full and I think if his dad saw his life from his perspective he would be proud (mostly exempt for the part with Casey ) but besides that brawn deserved better and max should be the one who has all these troubles I mean he created them for brawn by every time he tried to be kind he would just make every one see things his way.
Any way this was a great book and I plan to read the next one soon
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2015This book is a good backstory on the brain character and shows a lot of the first generation of superhuman. If u like the other books in this series u will love this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2014I feel "Stronger" is the best book in the Superhuman series so far. I read it in one night! Unlike the previous two books, Stronger is written entirely from the point of view of one character-Brawn, the huge blue strongman. (Maybe you CAN judge a book by its cover?) The story jumps back and forth through time, from Brawn's origin, to the events of the first two books, to nearly 20 years afterwards, and everywhere in between. But don't worry, all of the previous characters still play huge parts of the story as well, and it's great (or not so great) to see where everyone's paths take them. Whether or not you like the character, Stronger is an amazing read that is worth checking out.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2021The book is in very good condition as it was described. The seller responded to the question I had in less than a day and was easy to reach. Thank you!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2015I don't normally write reviews for the plethora of books I read, but for this book I'll make the exception. It maneuvers beautiful between the two different timelines, and really makes you feel the main characters struggle to do good in the world. I would recommend this entire series to anyone just so they can get to this masterpiece.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2018It's very slow, but I enjoyed it a lot.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2013As a school librarian, I love it when students take an active role in ensuring that our collection is current. A student pointed out that we didn't have the last of this series, and I was delighted to acquire it here.

Paul TomlinsonReviewed in the United Kingdom on August 7, 20165.0 out of 5 stars Brawn and Brain - and Plenty of Bashin'!
Brawn is probably my favourite out of Michael Carroll's superheroes - imagine a cross between The Incredible Hulk and Ben Grimm, only with blue skin and spooky all-white eyes. In this volume in the Super Human Clash series, he gets the book all to himself, and tells the story in his own words..
There are two main storylines woven together here: Brawn's life story from the time he first became a super human and changed into a 13-foot blue hulk-thing; and the events that take place during his incarceration, and attempts to escape from, the platinum mine / detention camp where the 'super villains' have ended up.
Throughout, the author explores Brawn's major challenge: How do you stay human when you look like he does, and everyone treats you like a monster? Along the way we revisit some of the events from previous novels in this and the original series, viewing them now from Brawn's unique perspective.
Brawn is in the great tradition of sympathetic 'monsters' - Boris Karloff's Frankenstein monster and 'Elephant Man' Joseph Merrick amongst them - whose only wish is to become, and be treated as, human.
If you've ever thought it would be great to be super human, this is a story that warns you of the price you might have to pay.
And if all that sounds dull and far too 'worthy,' let me tell you that Michael Carroll hasn't forgotten the comic-book origins of his character, and includes plenty of colourful mayhem and fighting!
Highly recommended.
