The Girls Guide to (Man)Hunting tells the story of a woman who wants to destroy the reputation and career of a high school boyfriend who left their small town of Bluebonnet Texas the day after graduation to join the NHL.

Miranda Hill has a very good reason for wanting revenge against Dane Croft. After all he's the reason she has lived every day of the last nine years, being tormented, teased and had to put up with the humiliating nickname of the "Boobs of Bluebonnet". The pictures of her and Dane that showed up on the Internet the day after their graduation sent her already fragile mother into a total breakdown. Leaving Miranda no escape from the small town. She had to stay and care for her mother.

Now Dane has returned, and has just set up a new business with two of his buddies from high school. They are offering survival training classes. Perfect. Now all Miranda has to do is enroll in the class and get Dane in a compromising position with one of his "clients" and set her plan in motion.

What she doesn't expect, is to still find him so attractive and downright sexy. And he seems to feel the same way about her when he sees her for the first time in nine years. Hmm... sex or revenge? Tough decision when these two get together and sparks fly.

This was a cute story. Very sexy, and lots of fun. I liked it.

The Girl's Guide to (Man) Hunting is another fun and sexy read by Jessica Clare a/k/a Jill Myles. Jill Myles is a favorite author of mine. She knows how to bring the humor and sexiness to her romance novels and this book was no exception. After reading this, I will never look at camping the same way.

Miranda Hill is the town librarian who is notorious for her Internet rendezvous with former boyfriend and ex-NHL star, Dane Croft. She has spent the last nine years with an awful reputation and nickname because of compromising pictures of her make-out session in a closet with Dane. Dane Croft returns home to Bluebonnet to start a new life and new business. Miranda decides she wants revenge and joins Dane's survival camp. She soon changes her tune when things heat up between them during their week in the woods and her heart just might be in the way of her getting even.

The chemistry between Dane and Miranda and the sex scenes were blazing hot. I highly recommend this sultry read for all lovers of comtemporary romance.

As a fan of Jessica Clare, I found myself somewhat disappointed in this book. We have our heroine who thinks our hero ruined her life, so nine years later when she has a chance her plan is to get revenge. I liked Dane, our hero, but Miranda annoyed me. I kept thinking that if she just took two seconds to really think about this or better yet to talk to Dane things would be so much better. I liked it, but it just missed something for me. It's also kinkier than what I normally like, so that turned me off, and I found myself skipping much of the sex scenes. But would I recommend this book? To other fans of Clare, of course. To someone new to this author to this author I would say check out some of her other books than come back to this one. This author does have many enjoyable reads!!

Miranda is stuck in a small town that has ostracized her for 9 years thanks to hotshot hockey player, Dane Croft. Now that he's rolled back into town, all she wants is revenge....

I read this a long time ago and remembered it being pretty decent. I remembered wrong. This book has very little actual relationship development and mostly just has the 🔥 🔥 🔥 times and that's the basis. Not only that but she never actually talks to Dane about the whole situation and I think that's a bit immature of her. This was not my favorite at all. It just needed a lot more character and relationship development.

I really, and I mean really, wanted to like this book more than I did in the end. It grabbed me from the get go, and I was probably 40% through when things started to go awry for me. I kept reading through to the end, glossing over some of the sex scenes but I did want see how things ended for Miranda and Dane. I wanted them to have their happily ever after, even though I had issues with the book.

My main issues had nothing to do with the writing, or editing. I simply had trouble grasping Miranda's motivations, and without giving anything away that is all I can write!!

I will go on to read more in this series though, as I am a sucker for contemporary romance, and Colt, the hero in the next book sounds intriguing.

What I liked:The idea was fun.

What I didn't like: The story had some big, big holes. The heroine is silly enough to go survival camping for a week with a few pairs of panties and one outfit, and nothing practical. She forgets to bring a brush or comb--really? On her way to spend a week seducing a guy? This didn't add up. Also, despite being so shy and lacking in self-confidence she never dates, she morphs into a bold seductress who will have sex where they can easily be caught and overheard. A tent a sound barrier does not make.

The town--Everyone in town gossips about some old pics of her from high-school, to the point it ruins her life. Eye rolling time. Stuff happens, and people move on, they don't fixate on something that long. Not to mention that so many kids are posting risque selfies. Having lived in a small town like this, I can say there would have been plenty of other small town scandals to take the place of this.

Her mother was one strange, unbalanced piece of work. Her daughter's episode ruined HER life, and the daughter had to sacrifice her own life for her mother?? Get this woman on some meds and go have a life, heroine.

Like all other Jessica Clare books I've read I honestly enjoyed this one. Although there was a lot more sex in it then I had anticipated not that I'm complaining. I found that both of the main characters Miranda and Dane's were writing well and their connection sexually was put across brilliantly in the pages. However I do feel as if there could have been a bit more focus on their emotional connection. That being said I do understand that to carry the story the focus needed to be on the sex aspect.

I do recommend this book, especially if you want something steamy. Jessica Clare does not disappoint with any of her books. What you pay for you get and more.
