Madea knows the price that must be paid when Diamara’s harsh sun leaves you Touched: you are Hollowed, your inner self stripped away, leaving a mindless shell. As aide to the brilliant Sullivan, Madea has assisted at a few of these procedures, but it’s not until she witnesses the Hollowing of a young woman much like herself that Madea begins to question the ethics of their work. Caught in a struggle she didn’t know existed, Madea finds herself pregnant and over-exposed. She doesn’t know how long until the madness sets in, but she does know what it will mean for her and her unborn child. No life at all. Madea must turn from those who would Hollow her—friends, family, lover—as well as the protective rules she has clung to her whole life, to the enigmatic stranger, Garrett. He is the only one who can help her now, but he might also be the one who made her Touched to begin with.

A well written story about adjusting to life on a new planet. How would react when our new planet is so different and even the sun is dangerous. To what extremes would the people in charge go to maintain control and order and what would you sacrifice to spread he truth and save the people you love the most.

Suntouched is set on the distant planet of Diamura, where the rays of the sun can send the human colonists insane. Madea is a scientist and daughter of one of the colony leaders, and discovers that there is more to the 'madness' than first appears.

I enjoyed Madea's story, and the interesting aspects of the colony. The colonists are still pretty recent and so cling to Earth customs. The story had a lot of hope, even when things looked dark, and the ending hinted that, while things might be bad, there's hope on the horizon.

It's set on the planet Diamura, where the rays of the sun can send the human colonists insane. The lead character, Madea, has all sorts of problems thrown at her but overcomes them with a vulnerable grace - and finds out a little bit more about the planet they've colonised. The story is still lingering in my head, I loved it so much - can't wait for the next in the series!

Absolutely loved it! Such a unique concept and the author had me hooked at, hollowed out. I have read a few of JC Harts books now and each one delivers a huge blow of wow after turning the last page. Definitely waiting eagerly for the next one.
