My family recently switched to vegan diets and I wanted to find something to help my kids (ages 2, 5, and 8) with the transition. We are a highly sensitive family, and I wasn't looking for a book that exposes the violence inflicted on farm animals or a book that had images or words that would be too upsetting to my young children.
This book was the PERFECT fit. It's geared more for my younger two kids, but even my 8-year-old followed along. This covers mainly the animal kindness part of veganism, so you won't find anything about the planet or nutrition here, but that's OK. This book drives home the "treat others how you want to be treated" motto (but in terms of animals). I'd highly recommend this book for little vegans who need a better understanding of why they aren't eating animals, but don't need too much info that it will keep them up at night. The pics I'm including show the extent of the cruelty. But we like that it mostly focuses on how animals are like us, rather than how we're hurting them.
