Steven Tyler is one of life's natural born survivors. With an exhaustively vibrant personality, this dynamic lead singer has been one of the most distinctive figures in rock music for more than three decades. Although he was raised in a close knit, loving family, Tyler survived a tough upbringing in the Bronx. His inherent passion for performing and a talent for playing instruments propelled him into rock music as a teenager. He fronted a succession of local bands before meeting the guys with whom he would form Aerosmith in 1970. Laura Jackson reveals the stories behind Tyler's relationships with band members and the many women in his life, his battle with Hepatitis C, and his drug-fuelled meltdown during the late '70s and early '80s when he was snorting pure heroin. She also explores his visits to rehab in the 1980s which saved his life. Tyler has lived a roller coaster life of excess - spending over a million dollars on drugs - but is miraculously still performing. Steven Tyler: the biography tells his incredible story.

Easy read…really enjoyed it and was sad when it was over.

I love autobiographies because they show that behind the scenes look of a story you thought you knew already. Steven Tyler made no bones about who he was, what he came from or where he intended to go, and most importantly, how he got there. Ups, downs, and turn arounds aside, Tyler made his life his own and never looked back. Having grown up in New England, and having enjoyed the Boston music scene when Aerosmith was climbing the charts, made this book especially enjoyable for me. I was actually at that concert at Greatwoods where Liv Tyler found out that the guy on stage shaking what his momma gave him was her father. I was eighteen, fresh out of high school, and mesmerized at the show the Bad Boys of Boston put forth. Steven's own story was a continuation of that show. It brought me behind the scenes with a rare backstage pass that I didn't have to sleep with a roadie to get. I would've appreciated it more had the story not been written from someone else's point of view. The parts I liked best were when I felt like Steven was talking directly to the reader instead of through an interview, or reading a review after the fact. That aside, the story was real, gritty and in your face in true Aerosmith fashion.

Steve, steve, steve. Wow have you had the life, parts we only wish we could have, something to dream about? Many mistakes through the years though too, I just wonder if you could go back and tell your 25 year old self one thing.... what would that be?

This was a great book; just a few too many curse words, which I marked out. Other than that a very interesting book.

I guess I thought that it was going to be him telling the story of his life. Not someone else. Didn't finish it

If you have already read "Aerosmith", then give this book a pass. Other than a few interesting pictures you will learn absolutely nothing that wasn't already in the Aerosmith book.

His defiantly not like most singers. I like how funny quirky and down to earth he is glad to see fame hasn't gone to his head like some rockers
