Queen of Chaos: The Misadventures of Hillary Clinton Paperback – November 2, 2015

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 135 ratings

United States wars are getting repetitive. Always the same old scenario. The mainstream media alert public opinion to the latest villain supposedly threatening to slaughter his own people . The U.S. does the job instead with its drones and missiles. The new villain is soon forgotten, but his country is left in a shambles, with competing fanatics vying to dominate the chaos. Something new is needed. How about a Woman War President? Hillary Rodham Clinton has painstakingly groomed herself for the role. Her record as Secretary of State shows that she is fully qualified to be the first woman to be known as the mother of all drones or even to launch World War III.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Veteran journalist Diana Johnstone captures the imperial worldview of Hillary Clinton in memorable detail. Hillary the Hawk, as U.S. Senator and Secretary of State, never saw a weapons systems she did not support nor a U.S. war practice she did not endorse. This included her hyper-aggressive launch of the war on Libya (against the opposition of Secretary of Defense Robert Gates) and the resulting sprawling chaos, violence and weapons dispersal spilling beyond Libya's war-torn society to larger regions of central Africa. Johnstone documents Hillary Clinton as 'the top salesperson for the ruling oligarchy' and 'the favorite candidate of the War Party.' That is what is at stake in November 2016." --Ralph Nader, author of Return to Sender: Unanswered Letters to the President

"If you are still fooled by Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as the Democratic Party, then Diana Johnstone's book will dispel the myth that either they or the party are redeemable. Hillary, like her husband, Barack Obama and the Democratic leadership, are controlled by corporate money and willing accomplices in the crimes of empire. Her appeal to gender holds no more promise for the poor, the working class or the wretched of the earth we tyrannize around the globe than Obama's appeal to race. The predatory engines of corporate capitalism and the security and surveillance state will run as smoothly under her direction as they did under her predecessor. If you doubt this, read this book." --Chris Hedges, author of
Wages of Rebellion

"Diana Johnstone has written an extremely valuable book on Hillary Clinton, which not only examines in detail Mrs. Clinton's political history and record, but places them in their evolving political context, which enlightens readers on the domestic and international political environment within which she works and into which she adapts.and serves." --Edward S. Herman,

Superb book. We need to pay attention to Ms Johnstone's work because, given Clinton is likely to be elected President, the people of the U.S. MUST stand against her war-mongering imperialism or we may see a conflagration we cannot survive. First, military spending and these wars of imperial aggression are destroying this nation's economy. Unless the U.S. ends its quest for world empire and relinquishes its empire, the U.S. economy will implode. It is important to remember the vast majority of empires are not destroyed by another empire, but destroy themselves. Rome is an excellent example, but there are numerous other examples. Second, while Putin is a thug, he really does not want confrontation with the U.S. However, the incessant expansion of NATO into Eastern Europe poses a far greater threat to Russia than a few Soviet missiles in Cuba in the early 1960's. Given how we reacted to those missiles, we should be able to understand Russia's reaction to bringing former Soviet satellite states and former Soviet Republics into NATO. That would be like the Soviet Union bringing Canada and Mexico into the Warsaw Pact. To make all of this and all of what is happening in the Middle East MUCH more dangerous, bringing Ukraine into NATO poses a tremendous threat to Russian national security. There is no question Clinton will push hard to cajole or coerce Ukraine into NATO. Clinton makes an issue, with some degree of legitimacy, about Russia reclaiming Crimea (it had been a part of Russia until Nikita Khrushchev ceded it to Ukraine in 1956. When it appeared Ukraine was moving to join NATO, Putin reclaimed it for Russia. The vast majority of people in the U.S. do not know the Crimean ports are the only warm water ports (that do not freeze in winter) Russia has. If Crimea continued to be part of Ukraine and Ukraine joined NATO, the Russian Navy would be forced out of its only warm water port. Anyone looking at this should understand this would pose a tremendous and unacceptable threat to Russian security. It would be as though, if Puerto Rico were the only warm water port the U.S. had, and it joined the Warsaw Pact, leaving the U.S. without any warm water port for its Navy.

Clinton's visceral hatred of Russia and her war-mongering imperialism, unless stopped by the massive resistance of U.S. citizens, is likely to produce a confrontation with Russia in which neither nation backs down. Johnstone's book is an extremely important examination of Clinton actions as Secretary of State, of the foreign policies she advocates, of her unquenchable war-mongering. It gives us a strong warning, assuming Clinton is elected President, we, the people, must stand united together against her aggressive, war-mongering, imperialistic foreign policies. Otherwise, she will place us in GREAT peril.

The author is not a conservative so I liked the idea of finding out about Hilary's warmongering from an impartial writer. The author has a lot of experience, and like me, she despises wars that are just corrupt and started out of lies.
I learned a lot- about Susan Rice and Susan Boyle, about Jeffrey Weiner's wife Huma, and a load of other killers , warmongers, and opportunists.
I had a good friend who is unlike me because he is a super liberal and I am not sure if he read all of the book but he simply said "the author certainly doesn't like Clinton". The truth is that the author does not like sociopaths of all types nor does she have any use for schemers , liars, warmongers, narcissists, Zionists, neocon Zionists, and the like..
If you are interested in truth free of politics then buy this book.
It is so well written and every chapter will have you totally absorbed. The writing is exciting and comprehensive.
    It is terrific.
It is a comprehensive account of what I have spent many years studying . So much of it is in this book and it all goes along with what has been written down and investigated by writers that are bright and curious and don't care about the political parties that civil servants belong to but are concerned with what is good and what is evil and want to know why horrible wars begin and who does the maneuvering.
If you are looking for truth and want to know why the "Arab Spring" came about and why so much dirt occurred on the Clinton's years in office then read this book.

A dense exploration of US foreign policy and its imperialistic tendencies, focusing on the Balkan conflicts of the 90's to present day. In every instance, whether the Balkans, Iraq, Libya, Honduras, Syria or the Ukraine, Ms. Johnstone offers a very different story than told by the usual media outlets. And, as you would assume from the title, HRC does not earn praise for her roles in these events. My worst suspicions don't go far enough. However, I rate this title short of five stars because some of the author's claims seem too distorted to be true (Slobodan Milosevec wasn't such a bad guy?). Nonetheless, my mind has been opened to new questions and points of view. As a launchpad for further reading, with a few pointers on where to dig, I highly recommend "Queen of Chaos". Hurry up though, November is coming.

In 1961 President Eisenhower warned about the rise of a Military Industrial Complex (MIC) - an elite consensus that, in effect, turned the United States decisively away from its New Deal social programs to endless military buildup justified by grossly exaggerating the Communist threat. Since the administration of Lyndon Johnson no president has been able to defy this consensus and today the War Party (MIC) is firmly in control of the 2 party political system.

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s policies of supporting the Afghan surge, intervention in Libya, the Iraq War, and sending arms to the Syrian rebels, among others, have made her the top salesperson for the War Party. She wholeheartedly backs Israel and has demonized Vladimir Putin, likening him to Adolph Hitler. This is likely to lead to war which could be nuclear. She is, indeed, the “Queen of Chaos.”

But Hillary Clinton is far from being the whole problem. The fundamental problem is the War Party which is firmly in control of the two party system. Reality suggests that the Republicans will nominate a candidate who makes Hillary look good (take a look at the current crop of GOP candidates led by Donald Trump!)

The only thing that can liberate Americans from their warlike fiction is economic collapse. This is not a cheerful prospect. Whatever the odds, one cannot help wishing that the American people will come to their senses and figure out a way to end this policy of war.. This happy ending is theoretically possible, but looks extremely unlikely because of the American political system.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Hitlery" Clinton, an imminent threat to mankind
Reviewed in Canada on August 6, 2016
This book is an essential read for anybody who cares about the future of mankind.

Johnstone writes with extraordinary clarity and insight and delivers a stunning indictment against a Hillary Clinton presidency. Her charges are backed up with copious quotes from Clinton herself. The book is horrifying in how Clinton bends every issue to serve her blind ambition of being Queen of the world, and her willingness to spill endless amounts of blood to serve her country as "the indispensable nation."

Much of the historical material in the book I have read elsewhere but Johnstone revisits it with brilliant insight and understanding. She is a master wordsmith. I found myself highlighting passage after passage as she says so much, so clearly, in so few words.

    From the book:

"Hitler is considered insane for having believed that the Germans were “the master race”. This judgment has not yet been pronounced on current leaders who proclaim that America is “the indispensable nation” and an “exception” to all the rules that apply to the rest of the world."

It is a brutal irony that Clinton should accuse Russia's Vladimir Putin of being the new Hitler when this is her blind ambition. If you don't agree with this conclusion, read the book.

Enjoyable reading on a non-enjoyable topic. Europeans must be kept aware of the dangers of a Wall-street-sponsored candidate like Clinton for global economic stability and an advocate for the military-industrial complex for what has remained of world peace, especially when Clinton seems like Mother Theresa in comparison with Donald Trump-around. Or even a feminist. Which she is both not.
Well-informed and witty, Diana Johnstone manages to enlighten her readers and to shed an overdue critical light on the American presidential race.

A polemic, but wellwritten and fair, mostly matter-of-fact-like, survey of US foreign policies the last decades, and Hillary Clintons maneuverings in the field. Even If some will ask for the alternative, which surely is hard to deliver, anyone (foreign, like me) should be careful having naive prospects about the future with this guy in the White House.
