The Untold Story of Jesus: A Modern Biography from The Urantia Book Hardcover – May 6, 2019
Purchase options and add-ons
Jesus comes to life in this fascinating modern biography excerpted from The Urantia Book. Many of these historical stories are familiar to readers of the New Testament but dozens are new, including the missing years not found in the Bible. Here you discover Jesus presented as never before, both as divine Son and human hero whose matchless life inspires, comforts, and transforms you.
It is beautifully written in modern, page-turning prose and complemented with 106 paintings from 35 renowned artists, including 42 originally commissioned works you will see for the first time. The paintings run the gamut of fine art celebrating the life of Christ, both classic and modern. These artists poured their souls into these portraits of higher spiritual reality. Our deep appreciation and humble gratitude go out to each one of them.
These paintings illustrate Jesus’ life journey from his humble birth and childhood to adolescence and manhood; from private to public ministry and on to his death, resurrection, and ascension. The artwork celebrates his diverse life as son, father-brother, carpenter, boat designer and builder, tutor, translator, caravan conductor, teacher, healer, minister, and friend. No one knows what Jesus looked like, but these artists painted their soulful interpretations to spark our imagination of these scenes from the Master’s life. Our intent is to give you a visual communion with Jesus that complements the enthralling narrative.
This impeccably designed book provides relevant and empowering spiritual insights, helping you navigate the challenging yet promising conditions of the 21st century. We live in an exciting era of unprecedented improvements in our material lives brought about by scientific, industrial, and social achievements. Yet despite all this progress, many souls feel lonely and displaced. We need God and have an innate thirst for spiritual answers because of that “still, small voice” that lives within us. Finding God by living the personal religion of Jesus satisfies that thirst.
The search for the genuine Jesus continues to intrigue humanity. Since the Bible only records an estimated 50 days of his life, it follows that there is more to his story. You will find it here in this detailed history of the Master’s entire life, including the public ministry recorded in the Gospels. It provides a coherent and seamless biography of this magnificent personality who continues to shape spiritual progress in our world.
The story of Jesus is one of the most enthralling chapters in human history. The closing passage of the Apostle John’s gospel speaks to a life larger than even the world itself. How fitting that the last words of his gospel should be the first words of this book: “But there are also many things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.” In John’s day the Word was made flesh. In these days the Word is made book.
The Untold Story of Jesus reveals the living Christ to members of the church that bears his name, as well as to worshipers of all world religions. It is sure to become a favorite volume for all who seek God.
A Final Thought
We pray that these stories, teachings, and paintings provide you with a new sense of faith, comfort, and purpose. And to you who may not believe in Jesus, we ask you to look again. Read the stories, enjoy the art, and get to know the man through new eyes.
What the world needs now is unconditional love, unfailing compassion, and matchless goodwill. Even after two thousand years, Jesus’ teachings have not been practiced on a global scale. When that day comes, his inspired life will transform, transfigure, and rule this world. His message of personal faith in a loving heavenly Father coupled with unselfish service to one another is a clear and direct pathway to peace in this life and passage to the next. May you be blessed by the supreme adventure that follows!
“Of all human knowledge, that which is of greatest value is to know the religious life of Jesus and how he lived it.”

Editorial Reviews
From the Inside Flap
A book for all who seek God, The Untold Story of Jesus reveals the living Christ to members of the church that bears his name, as well as to worshipers of all world religions. Drawn from The Urantia Book, a treasury of spiritual truths and insights, its intent is to inspire men and women around the world to know more about Jesus and to spread his message of love and goodwill.
What did Jesus teach?
“Whosoever will, let him come.”
Welcoming, and free from all narrow-mindedness, Jesus exhorted his followers to preach the gospel to all peoples. His sympathetic heart embraced all mankind, even a universe.
“Be of good cheer.”
This man of Galilee was not a man of sorrows; he was a soul of gladness. He could maintain this confident attitude because of his unswerving trust in God and his unshakable confidence in man. He was always touchingly considerate of all men because he loved them and believed in them.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock, and if any man will open, I will come in.”
Jesus taught that God is approachable, the Father is attainable, and the way is open to any hungry soul who desires to know God and become like him.
“My love overshadows you, my spirit will dwell with you, and my peace shall abide upon you.”
The peace of Jesus is the peace and assurance of a person who fully believes that his career for time and eternity is safely and wholly in the care and keeping of an all-wise, all-loving, and all-powerful spirit Father. This is the peace which surpasses all understanding.
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
Men seek for the treasures of the kingdom with yearning hearts and weary feet when they are all within the immediate grasp of living faith.

The religion of Jesus is based on faith, love, and selfless service. His pure and original message of unending life through faith in our heavenly Father is the spiritual birthright of every man, woman, and child of every nation, race, religion, and economic status. The teachings of Jesus stand apart from any religious, political, or social institution. The religion of Jesus, distinct from the theological religion about Jesus, holds the key to happiness and productive living. His spirit invigorates the inner life and provides power from above to transform people who then go out to transform society. The brotherhood of men is founded on the fatherhood of God. The family of God is derived from the love of God—God is love. God the Father divinely loves his children, all of them.
The Art in this Book
The one hundred and six paintings in this book run the gamut of fine art celebrating the life of Jesus. Here you will find both classic and modern paintings by many renowned Christian artists. You will also see many newly commissioned paintings for the first time. Thirty-five artists poured their souls into these portraits of higher spiritual reality. Our deep appreciation and humble gratitude goes out to each one of them.
These paintings illustrate Jesus’ life journey from his humble birth and childhood to adolescence and manhood; from private to public ministry and on to his death, resurrection, and ascension. About The Urantia Book
The Urantia Book was first published in 1955 and contains four parts. The first three parts present an expansive new revelation of God, the cosmos, the afterlife, angels and the heavenly hosts, world history, and much more. The fourth part is a restatement of the life and teachings of Jesus. This narrative sometimes uses unfamiliar names or terminologies, which are defined in the glossary on page 346.
The search for the genuine Jesus continues to intrigue humanity. Since the Bible only records an estimated fifty days in his life, it follows that there is more to his story. You will find it here in this detailed history of the Master’s entire life, including the public ministry recorded in the Gospels. It is beautifully written in modern, page-turning prose. It provides a coherent and seamless biography of this magnificent personality who continues to shape spiritual progress in our world.
While we have captured many fascinating stories and noble teachings, our highlights represent less than a third of Part IV of The Urantia Book. Condensing the life and teachings of Jesus into these pages is like trying to illuminate the sun by lighting a candle. We encourage you to read the original source.
The story of Jesus is one of the most enthralling chapters in human history. The closing passage of John’s gospel speaks to a life larger than even the world itself. In John’s day the Word was made flesh. In these days the Word is made book.

But more to the point, this is the book that so many Christians and Catholics - and other truthseekers - would love to read if they are fortunate enough to find out about it. Growing up as a Catholic, I can say that most of us were frustrated by the lack of information about the entirety of the life of Jesus - not just as a Son of God but also as a human being like us. We all wanted to know about his childhood and family life, his schooling and friends, his life lessons and personal struggles, the major decisions he had to make about his life's mission, and what kind of work and travels he engaged in before he started his public ministry.
How did he become such an unparalleled master spiritual teacher, whose sublime life significantly upstepped the moral and spiritual evolution of our world? How can the knowledge of how he lived and what he taught help each of us to live a more enlightened, compassionate, meaningful, purpose-driven, and helpful life?
"The Untold Story of Jesus: A Modern Biography from The Urantia Book" is a treasure of inexhaustible meaning and value. It will fascinate and delight you, enlighten and uplift you, and give you a whole new perspective on the life of a true spiritual hero whose life and teachings are what the world needs most right now during this pivotal time of transition in our world civilization.

The reader is treated to a flowing narrative, beautifully illustrated, that gives a snapshot of the ancient culture in which Jesus lived. The refreshingly uncomplicated description of the Master’s journey from birth, step by step through the landscape of his outstanding career is presented for all to see and understand from a human, not religious, standpoint.
I think “The Untold Story of Jesus” is the most important book of this century and second only to “The Urantia Book,” as the most important book of our millennium. It is not religious. It simply brings the Son of Man to our attention, as he has been overshadowed by the church’s promotion of the Son of God. Of course, Jesus is both, but, oh how refreshing and life-changing to meet Jesus the man; born like all of us; growing up with brothers and sisters, like all of us; and experiencing the joys, disappointments, and agonies of life and death, like all of us.
Yet, Jesus modeled a life of love, understanding, and perfection. “The Untold Story of Jesus” is thrilling to read because the well-written, flowing prose is accessible to everyday people. Many will recognize the events that generations have heard in parts over the centuries, events whose truths grab the heart as the stories come to life on the pages.
It is indeed a thrilling experience to get to know Jesus the man we love, not only because he loved us first, but also because he was a living human example of love, who shows us how.
Jesus human life modeling of relationships sets a new "touchstone" of eminence and quality. He was a master of relationships because he superbly mastered himself. Growing up from childhood he sought truth as a brilliant student, showing his parents and community strong interest in learning everything. And yet, he was the Creator of the material life he came to admire, even wondering how water could be steam and liquid and even become ice.
He became a wise family manager after his father's untimely death. Narration of his wisdom dealing with difficult financial matters is valuable guidance for all people, as patience was modeled. He early developed a strong faith in his Father God, just as he now desires for us.
The Untold Story of Jesus is truly a gift to inspire people of all religions to take a serious and joyful look at Jesus' everlastingly valuable guidance for all people. After all is said, no person throughout the world is obligated to any organized religion for a pathway to God. No person is required to adopt Christianity to like Jesus. This book shows him as a true, loving friend to all.

The first thing I thought as I opened the box containing this book was “Wow, this is a beautiful book!”, and indeed it is. It has 340+ pages on a good quality, thick glossy paper, and over 100 beautiful paintings of art within its pages. The binding is good quality and has a convenient read fabric ribbon sewn into the spine as a bookmark. You can tell that a lot of care and attention was put into this book.
As for the contents: You get a preface, the (abridged) text of Part IV of the Urantia Book, dealing with the life of Jesus, conclusion, a time line of the life of Jesus, Bible and Urantia Book references, and a glossary of Urantia Book terms.
The stories within can seem quite fantastic, and in my view, takes a lot of liberties in describing the life of Jesus as a child, teenager, schoolboy and young adult. But still, it is a fascinating read. Readers of the Urantia Book will be well aware of the life of Jesus according to the Urantia Book, but to those, like me, who only take the Bible as authority on the life of Jesus, it can seem vary strange reading. The Urantia Book, it is claimed, was provided to the English-speaking nations by divine beings, angels if you like, via what I would describe as a “conduit”, a person who was used by them to channel all this information.
So, in summary; it’s a beautifully made book, fascinating to read whether you believe it to be divinely narrated or simply a ficitonal book written by some chap over a period of about 20 years.
