Seriously this place needs to exist and I need to move there so I can find my own brooding anti-hero. Literally every time Charleigh writes a story I fall in love. I didn't think anyone would surpass Dare but here we are with Jesse.
Jesse is so beautifully broken, he puts on so many faces only a hand full of people know who he really is. I adored him in Bad Intentions but to see who he's become is amazing. And what this boy can do with a Dum Dum will leave you breathless. He comes across as this cocky, bad boy athlete. But in reality his heart is so big he's trying so hard and he's drowning under the weight of it all. I could not have fallen harder for this lost boy who loves The Outsiders.
Allie is perfection, she really does remind me of Lo from Bad Intentions. She's trying to do all these things on her own without needed help from anyone. She's gone through a lot and has some trust issues but honestly who wouldn't. But her and Jesse together give each other strength they are that balance for the other. I loved watching their banter and how they just fit together perfectly. They both desperately need consistency and they find that even though they tried hard to deny it.
Charleigh has created this beautiful place that you will seriously want to live in. She pulls you in from the first page and takes you on this incredibly journey of self discovery and growth. This book is rife with angst and heat that will melt your Kindle and give you a whole knew outlook on Dum Dums (trust me you'll never look at them the same way). Charleigh has been a One-Click author for me since Bad Habit and it has not changed. She fills her pages with so much heart that you become enraptured until the very last sentence. Jesse grew up in a way that no child should have to. Basically raised by his sister, they finally get away from their drug addicted mother and flee. Jesse has a chance at a new life here and he takes full advantage of being pegged as the new Ladies Man. But things are not what they seem. Jesse disappears for days on end. Until Allie shows up. Allie grew up with a rockstar dad who loved her and a mother who was emotionally unavailable. Imagine your dad dying on your birthday and having the voicemail to hear his last moments! 🙁 She leaves her mom and comes to town trying to find an escape and instead finds Jesse.
Ok....I lied...THIS one is my favorite. Jesse is ::chefs kiss:: but also such a mess and I feel like he deserved his own book. It's the last in the series and he's Logan's brother from Bad Intentions. It's a slow burn; no spice until over half way through but when it hits....😍. He's not perfect but he is. And Allie....sweet Allie. Like I said previously, I love this these stories have freakin grit to them. They're not a fairytale but real. Oh...and screw Crystal (Jesse's and Lo's Mom)
I loved this series so much that I'll be buying the paperbacks. They're so good and well written and gave me all the feelings. I even forgot about Ravenhood for a bit while reading them.
10/10 recommend! Go do it! On KU!
