I like biographies - not only musicians' biographies. I have read my share of them and, naturally, liked some and didn't like others.

Now...this one stands out, and in a good way: it feels "real".
No fancy vocabulary by some more or less renowned "ghostwriter" that makes you feel you've heard it all before, no fantastic stories you just know can't be all true.

Stacey tells it like it is - sometimes fun sometimes tough, sometimes you're on a high and at other times just plain frustrated. There is no glorification of the rock 'n roll lifestyle - you can tell Stacey Blades really loves this life with all its ups and downs - and it gives you, the fan, a whole new appreciation of what your favourite musicians endure while on the road - and then they still put on a great show as if nothing bad had ever happened and, at least in the case of L.A. Guns, they still take the time to come out and meet their fans, regardless of how exhausted and crappy they may be feeling - and you'd never be able to tell. Hats off to Stacey Blades and his fellow rockers!

This book is a great read and if you love your rock music there is no way you can miss this!

About six months ago, I never knew who "Stacey Blades" was. I came across L.A. Guns' latest album Hollywood Forever, and was impressed. The whole record is great, and I noticed the great lead playing ... and here I am!

Blades is just about exactly my age, and came of age liking the same stuff I did for the most part, so personally it's a relatable tale, but this is a cool, breezy read for anyone who is chasing a dream - and that includes chasing it in two countries, and at least as many time zones as Stacey! On the technical side, the formatting is a little odd (all text is in bold print), and there are some spelling and grammatical errors, but I was okay with it - the whole thing flows like a hyper conversation, not prose.

The one thing that confuses me after reading the book is, why the heck did he leave L.A. Guns in 2013? He obviously was happy in the band, going by this book, but of course, things can change. Here's to hoping he goes back.

Hard rock fans will definitely like this book.

When I saw the title "Confessions of a Replacement Rockstar," I fully was expecting to hear about what it was like to be taking Traci Guns' place in a band that Guns founded.

No. Instead, I got names of hotels and stories about lost luggage and bad connections. That happens to everyone Stacey! Doesn't mean you should write about it.

You wait to the second-to-last page to address that Traci Guns has reformed a new version of LA Guns and it has caused you problems. That's what people want to read about. What was it like being in his shadow?

Instead, you chose to bore us with stories of Roxx Gang (never heard of them) and a zillion stories about ex-girlfriends that you never fully developed.

The reason I didn't put one star (hate it) is that you come across as a pretty down-to-earth guy. You're just not a writer.

This book by Stacey Blades is good. I read it through in just a few days. He tells the story of his life, both musically and personally, beginning w/ his day sin Canada. While there are a lot of stories about the endless parties and such, this is a good book.

The one thing I would have liked to read more about was L.A. Guns and perhaps more about them writing, their songs, etc. Don't get me wrong, there is content on the band, but I would have liked to read about this even more.

Overall, I thought this was a good book and a nice quick read to learn a little more about Blades, his journey to Sunset Strip, and finally to L.A. Guns.

I cannot believe that all the other reviews are all so positive, this book is no way near perfect!
First let me say something about the paperback book itself.. The font is so large your 80 year old grandma can read it without her glasses! I was quite surprised and thought maybe i had bought a special edition for the visually impaired but apparently this was the standard edition. I must admit that i don`t read a lot of books so this might be more common than i think. The coverart however, is pretty cool:)
In my opinion this book shows that Stacey is a better guitarist than a writer and maybe that should be his first priority in the future to come, should he feel compelled to tell some of his stories again he should probably leave the writing itself to a professional author. That doesn`t mean this book is without it`s qualities, if that was so I`d give less stars. The story told here is at times very interesting for fans of LA Guns and Roxx Gang and it`s very encouraging to see people driven by a goal and achieving what they want. And of some of the people portrayed reminds you of people you know so at times it`s very easy to relate to what`s being told in the book.
Now stop writing books and release another proper album with LA Guns! We have enough covers albums now..
The "tales from the strip" album clearly shows that the band is capable of rockin` still afte all these years:)

What a cool book, I use to wonder what it would be like to be in a band that was a known name around the world & as much as they may have been bigger back in the day, they have never ever sounded better. This book shows you the good, the bad, the funny & the sad & shows that you should never give up on a dream. I use to think about the Sunset strip all the time & think about leaving everything behind & giving it a shot & I often wonder what I missed & this book gives me a little insight to that. I've never got the chance to see LA Guns with Stacey, I did however See them back in the "Traci" days & to be honest I think they sound way better with Stacey, my only Complaint is I wish it was longer & trust me if you still believe in the good sleazy rock then this book is for you!!
