 We love a book that has a true storyline and this one is perfect. Addresses first day jitters, leaving a sibling at home and puts a positive twist on them. Works well for any grade level, but we are looking forward to reading in anticipation of starting kindergarten and leaving a sister at home. Also has bright, colorful illustrations! The corner of ours was a little damaged but that didn’t impact reading.

Butterflies on the First Day of School just arrived and is a crowd pleaser. I read this aloud to my daughters and their friend, who happens to be very quiet and timid. She was smiling along with my girls, and I have the sense that she really understood little Rosie. Annie Silvestro’s books, all of them, are beautiful, fun, sweet and witty all at once - no easy feat! Her mastery of language and ability to make her characters come to life are remarkable. For any child who is anxious about the first day of school or anything else, this is your book! I just love the last page when the mother’s true feelings are expressed. We’ve all been there!
