- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2016I am not usually a huge fan of choose you're own adventure tales as I feel there is a lack of character development, however, Peter completely nailed it. He manages to keep the 'YOU' character blank enough for any reader to feel engaged while infusing the writing with tons of character and wit. The work-building is complex and exciting. I really hope he decided to take this world further and write a novel series based on it. Set in a futuristic drowned-city, we must use our wits to navigate an assortment of dangers including pirates, roguish thugs and wild beasts. A fantastic read for young and old.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2017Who knew so many things could happen when trying to deliver a package. Well if you are reading this interactive book and you are the poor kid delivering packages in the under city, you will understand. I loved all of the choices I had to make when reading this book. Most of all I enjoyed going back and changing my choices to find out what would have happened.... something that is often difficult to do in real life! A great book. I highly recommend it!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2015As usual Peter Friend creates an amazing world, but this time we get to explore it. You Say Which Way adventures let you make choices that help you fail or succeed in a quest. In this one you are a courier and have to make an urgent delivery across the maze of a flooded city infested with crocodiles, pirates, wild dogs and other dangers. I especially enjoyed the pirate sequences, and the Froggies - people - who inhabit the waterways that run through the lower levels of the city.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2018For me, this is a really nice way to read while sitting around waiting on the wife to finish shopping... or while waiting to pick up the kid from school... and so on. It's easy to get into, and easy to pick up and put down. Good quality writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2015This is a crazy post global-warming world where you have to make it across a derelict city full of pirates and gangs, throughout a dangerous tollgate to deliver a package. On the way you meet all sorts of weird, crazy characters, have dangerous escapades and funny adventures. My kids loved this story and want more.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2024This was a quality story with great trails and a really cool world to explore. I have and will recommend this to anyone wanting to start with a choose your own adventure and think that if you read it you will too. I've read every possible outcome twice and still wanted to start again. I really had fun with this one and hope your experience is as good as mine.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2016Other reviewers may know by now that i am always trying to find New Zealand authors on Kindle for my nephew and myself. I recognised Peter Friend's name because here in NZ he is a top SF writer, having been in Asimov's, and also a winner of many writing prizes. I read this story first to make sure it was suitable for my nephew ... and I loved it! Such funny throw-away lines. I give it four stars because as an adult i found it short in length but my nephew says i have to give it five stars for him. He liked taking on the mantle of the little courier hero, travelling in a futuristic water world, and having a great pirate adventure on a cool ship.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2017Another awesome You Say Which Way adventure! I can't get enough of these.

Kinsman Bookworm GangReviewed in the United Kingdom on March 8, 20165.0 out of 5 stars An imaginative world filled with many different deadly possibilities!
I'm already a big fan of the You Say Which Way Interactive fiction books, and really enjoyed this latest addition to the collection.
What would it be like to live in a world where the ice caps have melted, and your city is party submerged in water? At least the higher levels of the city skyscrapers are still inhabitable, but buildings can collapse at any time. The lower parts of the buildings are screened from the sunny higher levels by a security grid, keeping poorer people in the shadows down below the richer city dwellers. A big wall also separates the lower city dwellings from the even more dangerous areas, where pirate gangs roam.
An imaginative world filled with many different possibilities. You set off from the grimy "Deadline Delivery" office to delivery a package to the dangerous pirate territories. What is certain is that danger lies around every corner, and you need to have your wits about you to survive the day.
I had fun following several different paths, and have to say that I will never feel quite the same about old ladies who are carrying cabbages! I've still not found the path that will introduce me to the mutant "froggies" though, so I guess I'll have to have a few more goes...
RainbowsReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 13, 20175.0 out of 5 stars will also draw in less avid or even "reluctant" readers - so a good one for classroom libraries too
This story will really engage young readers as they take the part of the main character and choose which direction the story goes. And there are different possibilities - read the story one way and then go back and choose another option/decision as to what happens next. Lots of action, suspense and humour in the fast paced plot to keep readers engaged. I think this book will appeal to both boys and girls and, because it is interactive, will also draw in less avid or even "reluctant" readers - so a good one for classroom libraries too.
