d

Based on the Greenpeace film that became a viral sensation, this is the beautiful tale of a young orangutan who has lost her home.

Told through the eyes of a young girl, this picture book is ideal for introducing children to the importance of looking after our world and the plight of orangutans across the world. As well as a beautifully told story, the book includes a section at the back that teaches children about orangutans and shows them how to write their very own campaign letter and help save the orangutans!

I bought this book at the same time as subscribing to WWF for my 3 young grandchildren. The 2 girls (aged 2 and 4) love this book and ask me to read it every time I see them for childcare. The 4 year old is telling everyone she meets about the importance of the rainforest and the 2 year old joins in with the words at the end of each sentence. It is a sensitively written story about a young Orangutan who decides to go and live with a little girl because his home is being destroyed by humans. Another amazing book which complements this is "The Journey Home" by Frann Preston-Gannon.

Gorgeous book. Such a great way to explain deforestation and use of palm oil. I bought it for my boys 7, 5 and 2. They enjoyed it. I’m also a teacher and used it with my reception class. They loved the activities that we based around it and really embraced the messages as would so older children.
