- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2017I received this book free from Kindle Scout and was very excited to read it. I was a little disappointed in the development of the story and the ending. I liked the story but I feel the ending was a little too neat and happily ever after. I am usually ok with those types of endings but it did not really fit this story. I did enjoy the development of the story but it was a bit predictable. I would recommend it to others to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2017Teleport by Kevin Berry is a Kindle Scout book I won. It is a fun read and the science was pretty fun. He does refer to things in the future that is here now that certainly won't be there then, but who knows? It is worth the read just for the fun of it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2017Teleport is a well-written story in an interesting world. It had a good combination of events that felt familiar (i.e. predictable) and unpredictable events.
The story was set in a futuristic dystopian world, where the rich and talented did well and the rest didn't have an easy life.
There were a lot of interesting events that occurred, but also times of relative quiet where we got to learn more about the characters.
Questions I was pondering early during the story (no spoilers other than what was in the blurb, or obvious at the very start):
Why was the mother the main character and not the daughter?
Will their Patron end up being an evil scumbag?
What are the limits of the teleportation technology, assuming it is ever successfully implemented?
Overall I would highly recommend this story.
I would also recommend you don't read any further if you haven't read this story.

**SPOILER WARNING**
My only issue with the book may be something that I didn't understand, instead of something wrong, but I'm not sure at this stage. I'm unsure if I understood the mechanics of the teleportation well enough, but it seems incredibly odd that the teleported items/people would have velocity issues as they're recreated instead of being truly teleported. Does anyone know why that was the case? It was kind of a big deal in the later part of the story, so I'd appreciate it if someone could fill me in on it :)
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2017Teleport was a great read. My only complaint is that it was over too quickly. It would be great as a series.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2017I wish this bland book would've had a different title before I dove in. Something more appropriate. Like Telebore. Yeah; that'd be a whole lot better! Anyway, it took a little over three months to finish this—and it's all because the damn thing was/is crazy boring. Starting and stopping just came with the territory. For real, though, I quite like that title of Telebore instead of Teleport. You should, too. So if anyone's currently hiring for some proper novel naming, come see me. I'm available and ready to distribute...
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2017I heard of this book through Kindle Scout. Thus, I had pretty high expectations. I wasn't overly disappointed, but I also don't recommend taking the time to read.
The story starts out very good with interesting scenes and characters, but it quickly stops being exciting. You cannot feel the reason why characters do certain things, and the plot seems very jumpy at times.
At the end of the day, it's a really quick read but it doesn't live up to expectations.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2017Teleport is a first person account by Maddie McLeod a brilliant ‘Creative’ who’s been charged with developing a working teleportation device for her Patron, one of the handful of oligarchs who control the world’s resources, and thereby its people. She’s so close to achieving it, but the pressure is intense because she needs the Patron’s favour when her daughter Cassie’s fate is decided on her eighteenth birthday. Set in 2065, it’s a provocative post-apocalyptic look at a new forms of civilisations and technology and their impact on individual choices and social control. Readers will find Berry’s decision to cast the uptight and gauche Maddie as his protagonist, rather than her brilliant and socially promiscuous daughter, as surprising as it is refreshing. Teleport is an ambitious story, serious and unexpected, with incredible world building and quirky compelling characters. To date though, the reviews have been patchy, and not because the writing is poor. I suspect it’s because Teleport is one of those stories that’s hard to define, with the kind of unusual content which indelibly changes a genre, like Card’s Speaker for the Dead, or Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. The kind of story that appeals to readers who like to be challenged.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2017I'm not a fan of over-the-top sci-fi. I like my sci-fi to be set in an environment that I can imagine on the fly and not have to slow down or stop reading to figure out. This book definitely fills that order.
The characters are likable and the science is reasonably believable, so I enjoyed this book. I wouldn't call it particularly memorable, but certainly entertaining.

An interesting read. I like the concept of teleportation and how the author set it into the scene. The book also offers a good insight into the competitive and sometimes cutthroat world of scientific research - the struggle for funding, the competitive environment and the need to protect results. There are lots of really good ideas in this book, ranging from social and environmental to economic. I won't give details and put any spoilers in. Overall a good read, that will certainly keep you entertained enough throughout.

A must read for SciFi fans. Likeable characters set to a dystopian background; Teleport takes you on a journey that starts of gentle, gathers momentum and finishes in a thrilling climax.
